I thought so too, but Yaegashi had me doubting it around the 5th with that surge and it seemed he was so close to solving the Gonzalez puzzle. If he weren't so battered and worn out he may well have.

Would Gonzalez-Rigo be something conceivable down the line?

Rigo isnt the biggest 118 in the world...
Gonzalez apparently comes in the ring in the mid 120s.

    hmmm

Ruenroeng isn't close to as proven as Gonzalez (there's a big drop-off from Ioka to his secondary wins, although defeating Ioka was impressive and made a statement) but stylistically yeah, he might have what it takes for Gonzalez to not look quite so... immortal.

Ah, so you saw the momentum shifts. (well, besides the 1st and 2nd, which they split)

Yaegashi coming back in that 5th! :admin

I agree, although just the same, I doubt Amnat would be as comfortable on the ropes against Gonzalez as he was against Ioka.

Hopefully that fight happens ....after Gonzalez-Estrada 2/Segura ofcourse.

Damn. I have been holding out hope for that Ioka rematch, since they're both campaigning at flyweight now.

Just imagine how this would sit on Gonzalez's resume if Yaegashi had gotten the nod (which I thought he deserved, by the narrowest of margins) over Ioka two years ago??

I need to admit my Japanese is VERY ropey.

RE Amnat, Ioka is his best win but Fuentes isn't a bad win either. Those two stand out by a mile.
