My latest piece. Enjoy: http://www.thesweetscience.com/news/articles/17026-a-left-hook-that-rings-for-the-ambulance
Surf, I enjoyed your great piece on Al Gainer...A hell of a fighter who fought in a period of great lightheavyweights as Maxie Rosenbloom, John Henry Lewis, Tiger Fox, and Melio Bettina. These guys would fit in very well with the later era of LHs as Charles, Moore, Bivins for sure. Matter of fact I saw Melio Bettina and Jimmy Bivins fight a draw at MSG in the mid 1940s..Both were a little past their peak...:good
Thanks, Burt. Appreciate it. :smoke That Gainer could fight in a brutally tough light-heavy division and remain in the top 10 for the entire decade speaks volumes about the man (as does what Billy Conn said about the faded version of Gainer). He was NEVER STOPPED! Amazing, isn't it?
