It has recently been revealed by multiple sources that the Wilder team, along with Al Hayman, first tried to postpone the Povetkin fight in private will publicly stating the opposite. After this failed with the WBC, Al Hayman attempted to feed Martin to Povetkin, but the WBC stepped in between this proposal and blocked it, forcing the Wilder v Povetkin match.

This is after Wilder appealed to the WBC in the first place multiple times, using the case of Floyd Mayweather as an example of not having to fight his mandatories, while publicly stating the opposite.

This is almost comedy at this point.

"Recent maneuvering in the heavyweight division has been intriguing in that regard. At present, Tyson Fury is widely seen as having the most credible claim to the heavyweight throne by virtue of his Nov. 28, 2015, victory over Wladimir Klitschko. Haymon “advises” WBC beltholder Deontay Wilder and IBF beltholder Charles Martin.

Multiple sources say that Haymon tried to make a title unification bout between Wilder and Martin but the WBC refused to release Wilder from his obligation to fight mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin. Then, in a further effort to protect Wilder, an overture was made to Team Povetkin to see if the Russian would fight Martin instead but the Povetkin camp said no."

The fact that they put up this smoke screen in public, while in private they tried to duck the entire time is comedy gold hahaha!

    Well duh.

Thereare five to ten re****s on these boards who want to have *** with Wilder whiles he wears his gay Mardi Gras mask. They defend him at every turn. The entire rest of the world knows that he is a coward who fights cripples and people paid to take dives.

Here's the Boxing Rant show talking about it, and to my knowledge, Thomas Hauser, along with sources at ESPN have revealed this. They begin talking about it at 1:50:00 into the show during a discussion about AL Haymon.

You fools were saying he'd duck, even when the purse bid was lined up. He'd drop his belt, wouldn't go to Russia, was scared of making millions.

You've been proven wrong. Accept it.

Except that now it's come to light that Haymon and Wilder's team did everything possible to avoid the match-up and were forced into it by the WBC.

Probably big Al had to force them to take the fight.

    That's just straight up cowardly.
