Funny to think people anticipated Broner "surpassing Floyd" in no time and that Floyd should "fight him immediately to prevent that". atsch
I don't like Broner skipping 140 at all. I think he would be better off unifying 135 until he can't make weight and then moving up to the solid 140 and then eventually ending it at 147. I don't see the point in rushing him to 147.
It's not that bad of a fight, but I don't like the fact that he is skipping the 140lb division. That's some BS, because that's were the real match ups are. They might be wanting to start lining up Broner for a passing of the torch.
Who is he suppose to fight? The guy in his division that everyone wants him to fight in Burns won't fight him. Rios is with Top Rank fight can't happen. Top GBP fighters at 140 are tied up. Who do you want him to fight? A mandatory at 135 that you'll bash if he fights. A no name guy at 140? Paulie is a champ at 147 is not a bad choice especially since Broner will be moving up two weight classes to face him. I swear some poeple will criticize anything. Not too many guys today jump up two weight classes and fight a belt holder for their first fight at that weight.:deal
Broner fought top comp in the 2 divisions he has been in, Canelo can't say that at 154. He is just now fighting the first legit 154lber in his career.
why are people acting like he cant fight the guys at 140? The fighters at 147 and 140 are the same size.
foreal, Floyd is allowed to do a lot of the things he does nowadays because of what he did earlier in his career. Same with Pacquiao, Oscar, Cotto and others. Broner needs to slow down. yeah this type of fight is right up your ally
If this fight comes off it will be a great feat if Broner beat Paulie. PM is not a push over and his skills and speed are a problem for most boxers. Couple that with Adrien moving up not one....but TWO divisions is a hefty meal to be expected to digest. I honestly can't say that I think Broner will win if the fight is at 147. That's a big leap for any fighter and it's not easy to do. His skills, speed, talent and ability aren't in question here....but his ability to carry all those attributes up with him is. Only the really special fighters have shown the ability to do something like that. While I know Broner is special....I'm not sure if he'll be in the same realm as his idol Floyd or other guys on that level. Just getting called up by HBO to move up like that means he's got some real talent....but HBO is trying to find a Floyd replacement and might be jumping the gun. Broner would be better suited if he moved up progressively. But he doens't have the luxury of making that call if HBO is telling him to do it. Money talks and it's sink or swim.
