You show me where he paid 15 million for this show ? so your saying he would have done better by allowing Showtime or HBO to telecast the show, and increased his revenue? I Say bull **** ! The man didn't come this far by making stupid decisions. Let wait and see what the rating are next week .. I think they would have fare out weighed what HBO could deliver .
Ya you guys are lucky over there. Here in the U.S. we get charged insane amount by a fraudulent ex tax lawyer and a cross-dressing ex boxer for ****ty cards on ppv.
Who's opinion should we take, a proven world class event promoter (Al Haymond) or some boxing forum poster guy (barchman) who probably has never organised Birthday party level event .
I like boxing in general and I don't care if it's on hbo , showtime , espn or nbc ,I think HBO has the best crew and beat fights and these are the reasons I like their events better than showtimes . Tonights show on NBC wasn't good , or in other words it was pure bull sheet . Ring entrances and commentators were terrible , but that was their first event so lets hope it will get better with time.
Are seriously asking that question or just playing dumb? Rating is the only thing that matters in the business of television sports are no deferent. Is anyone paying to see the super bowl ? **** NO! But it gets the highest rating every year. Even people who don't like sports at all tune in to the super bowl, just for the spectacle. It was poor rating that killed Boxing in the early 90s, it was rating that made ESPN show boxing only during the summer months. When boxing started losing TV to synchronized and gymnastics, every boxing pretty much new it was a wrap for the sport of boxing. Rating is everything on television .. Al knows that, so instead of going for PPV, which is only killing the sport , he's going for exposure and ratings to put the sport back on the map. If rating are good, you can bet NBC will have a hand in help making these fights. With all the fighters Al now manages, look for even more stiffer competitive fights, which should bring more viewers. And again **** HBO and Showtime!! Agin if Haymond was such a manager why does he have HBO, Showtime and NBC booked .. What shows are Oscar and Arum left with Zou, Canello, Pac ! ? How long is that going to last ?
Conversely, people who cowgirl-ride Al Haymon because he is affiliated with Floyd Mayweather are also a little bit low on the intelligence scale. I shall judge him based on what he does for me, not what he does for his fighters. As of right now, he's given me years of mismatches and Thurman vs. Guerrero. He's welcome to dig himself out of that hole but it'll take some work.
