He opens up shop at a HUGE loss, but once he takes control he jacks up the prices... Haymon will pay fighters **** once he controls all of boxing. He is losing money on EVERY show now. He is fooling young fighters into signing with him... They think he genuinely wants to help them... All he is interested in doing is making money. All the fighters will soon be fighting for peanuts. The only way to make up for the losses he is taking now is to have a monopoly on boxing and have the fighters make almost no money.
It's outlined in Arum's lawsuit that it'll be a detriment to everyone if he takes over. Arum also happened to know Haymon's partners really well in that lawsuit.
You dont know what's going to happen in the future and you're not in on his plan. You're speculating.
If Haymon keeps bleeding money along with the two front lawsuit by goldenboy and top rank it will be very interesting to see if Haymon starts crumbling a bit.
I call it "thinking one step ahead" and "being able to read between the lines". This is the next logical step once he has the monopoly of the boxing industry.
:deal How many monopolies made it their goal to continue to take a loss and essentially become a charity run at a loss? None. Haymon is using this push of money to gain the trust of everyone, then once he is the only one left he makes it miserable.
Good. It makes me glad I am not the only one able to see through Al Haymon's plot. If all boxing fans were as smart as us, promoters wouldn't be able to take advantage of fans like they do.
It has nothing to do with race. I am against a monopoly on any product or good.I am not a MMA fan, but dislike the fact that Dana White controls it all.
80% of Haymon fighters don't have a scheduled fight according to his promotion company's website. How dafuq is that good
The problem with that plan is that HBO was and is still recognised to be "the" place for boxing. UFC managed to do what they did because they were there first and manage to present themself as attracting the best talent. If that's Haymon's plan, which looks like it is, it is a doomed plan, it was doomed from the beginning. Maybe he will succeed, but he will only do so if HBO pulls out of boxing, which they probably won't, or if HBO decide to only do business with Haymon, which they won't also.
of course he is...his investors are already down 160 million, it's only been a few months, and they have 0 great fights to look forward to in the future....
It is defintely a long term strategy. I would guess they are prepared to take a loss on every show for at least another full year.. Probably way more than that though.
The problem is that Al's boxing model doesn't work. Boxing is a star driven league, and him going the pseudo UFC route where he wants to make it all about the company, where the fighters are simple pegs he can plug in and out of his shows will not work. Despite the huge hype and everyone saying Broner vs Porter would be huge, it was the lowest ranking PBC show on nbc yet; in fact each of his shows is drawing less rankings than the previous one, he's on a serious downward slope, and there's no way out. People want to watch the GGG's, Canelo's and the Kovalev's of the boxing world, no one gives a **** about these generic American fighters Al's trying to build up
