I am a huge Minter appreciator! Sad news indeed. Prayers to his family

I think even Alan, looking back had a chuckle when he realised what he said.

RIP champ.

 

Wtf? Minter was a hell of a fighter in a time of terrific middleweights. Dominating Finnigan alone is great. I thought he DID win 12 or 13 rds against Vito in Vegas. W/out cuts, you're talking hall of famer. Goodbye and thank you "BOOM BOOM", you conquered the Middleweight World as King and always gave to the last ounce of yr blood. Now they can take you, like Arthur, to Avalon until England needs you again.

 

With all respect to the dead, his behavior before the Hagler fight ( The comment he wouldn't lose a fight to a black man) and the aftermath of the riot his behavior cost after his destructive loss to that same black man , also his opinion to Ring Magazine saying the best fighter he faced was Kevin Finnegan, a fighter he beat on points, and not the "Black man" that beat him , and that same "black man " destroyed Finnegan twice and went on to be in the conversation as the best Middleweight in history leaves to question who he was inside.
But he was a warrior. Like any man that steps into a boxing ring. Is the best I'd say for him, and rest in peace.

Went to Vegas in 1980 to see him beat Antourfermo , won £1,200 for a £300 layout, met Billy Conn, shoke hands with Joe Louis, and saw Dean Martin, Donny and Marie ( what a sort ) Donny Summer, and Anne Margeret , all for free at Ceaser Palace. plus had the favors of a lovely young lady, to round off a great week, I was young free and single at the time.

 

Hagler did not destroy Finnigan. It was a close fight. As for the rest of yr po s t, why not leave yr racism at home and honor the dead. Minter apologised many times and yr bull**** of knowing who really was his toughest opponent and what is in a m a n's head w/out proof if the exact bull**** destroying the world right now. Don't make accusations w/out proof snowflake.

 

Mo, I can only go by what the man said and did. If he apologized that's great. But at the TIME of the fight is the situation he created and the aftermath of what he created.
And if he apologized he said something that he should apologize for so what did I accuse him of that wasn't true? What did he apologize for?
I didn't point out the racist or point out any racism. You did.
I was just giving the truth of what he said and did the day of the and before the fight. Hagler said he said it. British media said he said it, and according to you he apologized for it so he obviously said something that wasn't the proper thing to say.
I also gave credit to him being a warrior and may he rest in peace. But you missed that part because the truth disturbed you to the point you missed it. And Hagler did destroy Finnegan twice. Where Minter won by decision.
What does this say about you and your hang ups? Only you know.

 

RIP. A lot of these guys in the 1980's would have been decent champs had it not been for Hagler. The middleweights of Hagler's time were tough strong guys Minter included. Minter, Hamsho, Sibson, Roldan. Solid guys. Rest in Peace
