The Roldan thread started by Seamus got me thinking about this fight.

    Who you got?

Might actually go with Minter here. Shaky vote at any rate.

I think Roldan would be befuddled against this southpaw. But he would keep winging in there and that is a huge problem for Minter. Dangerous and exciting bout and if Minter can extend it his chances improve by the round. Not sure he can hold up for like 8 rounds---especially if Roldan solves the southpaw thing.

Cannot see either going 3-0 in a 3 fight series.

Minter by decision. Underrated boxing skills.

I'm not going to claim to be schooled well enough on Minter but Fletcher tried going southpaw on Roldan and that didn't work out too well.

Again, Minter isn't in my wheelhouse. I will make a point to watch more than the Hagler fight.

Fletcher was a southpaw slugger. Minter had a much different style than that. The southpaw Roldan looked ok against, for a while anyway was Nunn. But that was the Michael Nunn that didn't use his mobility and footwork and stood right in front of guys. Earlier on, he circled as well as anyone.

I thought Nunn was going to circle Roldan and turn him all night. Would have been an easy fight. Instead he stood in front of him and planted his feet. He won the bout of course, but he made it a lot tougher fight than necessay.

But none of this really pertains to the Minter style. He kept those hands up nicely--crucial against Roldan. The other thing he did was throw nice straight punches. A wide puncher can get beat to the punch by Roldan and his never ending looping shots.

That's why I like Alan Minter---if he can weather the early storms. He will have to dig deep at some point but he was a guy that could and would dig deep. A good fight for us the fans of the sport. Sibson would have been another good match with Roldan.

This is a similar fight to Minter - Hamsho. A strong, bull of a fighter who wants to club you to death. And with Roldan being orthodox, i see heads banging left and right. If Minter can make it to the bitter end with the cuts that would appear from these styles, I see him taking a very close decision.

I like Minter personally but I see him getting brutalized and eventually stopped. Roldan does not wait on boxers to score with a jab and one two; Juan gets off first and forces the boxer to go on the defensive and would easily weave around Minter's jab

this would be a smart man's bet to end before the distance. Roldan by tko

Minter may be smarter and better technical but he wouldnt win
Roldan is the stronger and by far more powerful and more physical with power in both hands. He was nearly the equal of Hagler on the night they fought

Minter would really fancy his chances here.

Minter should win a comfortable-ish decision with the usual Boom Boom proviso of, if the eyes hold up.

Minter would wrack up the point s but it could be a gruelling fight for him . Roldan was no soft touch .
I'll go Alan by decision but left with a knocked up face.

It’s conceivable that if Minter decides to box, use the jab and do his best to operate at long range he could outpoint Roldan.
I know it’s not a direct comparison but he busted up Antuofermo badly in their 2nd fight.
I’m in the minority but I thought he beat another brawler in Hamsho, although Roldan hit much harder than both Vito and Hamsho.
The thing is Minter loved a ruck and sometimes he would forgo the boxing and become embroiled in a brawl, against Roldan apart from risking getting cut, he could get knocked out.
