To be fair to Minter; six years on he has found a woman who has helped him chill out. He has moved to a more rural area and according to reports resolved to sort out his demons. And speaking to people who may know, Minter has not drunk to excess for a number of years.

So kudos to him, I hope he can continue his recovery.

uon further review I would say Tony had the better guns. can any man stand up to such raw power? If Tony didnt stop him down Tony SIbson style, he stops him on cuts. score one for the young unbeaten prospect

Compared to the opposition that a young Tony Ayala Jr. faced during his career before he was incarcerated for 16-years and then throughout when he was released Alan Minter was a much more polished fighter for Tony to handle. And then the fact that Alan was a much more natural Middleweight than Tony was, or even Tony's oppositon, and was The World Middleweight Champion with some solid wins under his belt most notably the Vito Anterfuermo fight that would all but just about sum up my pick for a Minter win over Ayala Jr., via a late tko and with Minter surviving his being prone to cuts!

Mind you he did beat Vito after Hagler fought him first to the controversial 15-round split draw in their first fight. That Hagler fight might have well just took it out of Vito!
