If Clottey fights anything tonight like his track record suggests, then he may very well struggle intensely for a win or outright lose. Yet, some of you guys actually think he can go 1/1 with an elite like Miguel Cotto, how ABSURD.

Clottey has stamina issue's, chronic hand problems, he's a feather fist and he's highly immobile like most African style high guard pressure fighters that work behind the jab. Alvarez can move and is a bad style for him overall, the upset wouldn't be a suprise in the slightest.

The only reason Clottey is considered a top level, is due to word of mouth from how he performed against an equally overrated B- level Margarito and the fact that people accept whatever they are told.

Clottey gets destroyed in 5-7 rounds against Cotto, it would be a 1 sided quick destruction, yet many here think he's anything to talk about at all as a serious contender.

Dude if anything you're underrating Clottey. He'll beat Alvarez tonight. And I'm a BIG Cotto fan but it's not gonna be a "1 sided Quick Destruction". Clottey is a big welterweight and has a good chin and very fast hands and good defense. He'll give ANY welterweight a tough time.

Na I'm not underrating Clottey, I just think people are underrating Alvarez. Clottey should win tonight but don't sleep on Shamone. His hands are fast in the pocket but his follow through could use some work.

Clottey is a good fighter, should take care of this Alvarez guy. CLottey has been in there with Margarito, Corrales, Baldomir, and Guttierez. The only guy that Alvarez has been in there with is Jose Luis Cruz, who even a faded Sharmba Mitchell beat.

I think he has grown too big for 147 and making the weight is killing his stamina. The guy weighed in near 170 for his fight against poor Corrales and couldn't put him away. Clottey better not sleep on Alvarez tonight or he could very well lose a close decision. Those 15 boxers from Ghana that he iced probably never entered a boxing ring before fighting Clottey so he's not a heavy hitter by any means.

  8. Clotty wins tonight!!:deal NO DOUBT...

Joshua Clottey and Sam Peter are the two fighters we strongly disagree on. :yep

You know I don't have much regard for Margarito, I'd be loathe to put him above a C level (and, as has been well documented - I gave Clottey that fight, and have defied people to go back and rewatch and rescore it and to date NOBODY has taken me up on that, just blindly going along with their fuzzy recollection and consensus opinion of what the TV announcers told everybody to think, that Clottey didn't win a round after the first third of the fight, which is BULL**** - maybe three at most were CLEARLY won by Margarito). I've liked what I've seen of Clottey in several fights and think he does trouble most elite welters (as in make for a tough grueling night) - though likely in losing efforts against the likes of Cotto, Mosley et. al. - and probably beats any non-elite fighter. So it's not at all true that only Margarito hypers rate the guy. He may cleave to the predictable African high guard pressure style, but he's damn good at it, is very strong and durable, certainly falls in and anchors against certain types of opponent but can control the ring and negate movement (as in his shutout against a smaller and shot but still determined and physically fit Corrales), can be quite accurate at times and shows glimpses of some brilliant combination punching every now and again. He's an enjoyable fighter to watch, not the prettiest but never unbearably ugly.

I take Clottey by KO. Seen Alvarez in an ugly fight, seen nothing special.

If Clottey wins by KO, then it means Alvarez' chin is china, because Clottey couldn't even put away a shot Corrales.
