Clottey is winning, but look at all the shots Alvarez has gotten in on workrate alone. Now how do some of you fools think Clottey troubles any of the top raters?
I know Amsterdam, Clottey can only fight in spurts and even then, his mouth is wide open against someone as limited as Shamone Alvarez. Cotto likely brutally takes him out in 7 or less.
...but Clottey has UNREAL speed and MAMMOTH power. Plus he won rounds against MARGARITO! That tells me something! This guy is for real:deal Clottey easy UD or easy KO vs Cotto
Clottey is looking good to his fans right now, but it's only because Alvarez is such ****. I was hoping Alvarez would be better than he is and expose Clottey, but it looks like it won't happen. The Margarito-Clottey-Williams hype triangle stays alive. :-( It's amazing how two guys got hyped heavily after having close fights with him.. an accomplishment that shouldn't be impressive for top 147 pounders. I would love to see Cotto-Clottey get made, just so Cotto can show what a real elite pressure fighter does to someone like Clottey, who fights in spurts and is easy to hit. Imagine Clottey standing in front of Cotto with his body open to huge shots trying to relax for 15 seconds. He can do that with Margarito and Baldomir, but with Cotto he's in for a big surprise.
LOL what shots are you talking about??? Barely any.. I can only count on 1 hand how many clean shots he hit Clottey with. And yes CLottey DEFINETLY troubles ANY welterweight like i said earlier.
Me too, but thankfully, he still exposed Clottey's stamina, stylistic and defensive flaws all the same, so I am pleased. It makes me sick how overrated guys like Clottey become.
Like I said.. I'm a Cotto fan but he doesn't brutally take Clottey out and definetly not in no 7 rounds.
Mate, Alvarez is a feather fist, but he has at points easily timed some good shots on Clottey and had easily landed body work, given that Alvarez is maybe a C level fighter at best, what's a crushing, punishing A level guy like Cotto going to do? Clottey is NOTHING within the top WW mix.
People will still look at this as an impressive Clottey performance against an undefeated prospect. One funny thing is that Alvarez will probably get some respect from some fans for lasting 12 punishing rounds with him. If Alvarez faces a guy that can punch in the future he will easily get knocked out.
And I highlighted him as being no puncher in the slightest. And despite what anyone will say, Alvarez showed many of his flaws and landed a fair bit of punches, that's not a good sign when comparing a guy to one of the divisions elite's, who would take out Alvarez easily. Cotto, Cintron in 7 or less.
