Dude you were just hyping up Alvarez in your thread! Now when Clottey DOMINATES him he's a C level fighter?? Make up your mind. Margarito is a top welter and he was losing till Clottey hurt his hand so what do you mean he's "NOTHING" within the WW mix? :huh
Kiddy, I've predicted more fights correctly than you ever will, on top of it, many factors that I stated came into play tonight and at points Alvarez gave him trouble despite showing to be more fragile than I originally anticipated.
When was I hyping Alvarez, I was making a case of how Clottey is not even in the top level mix due to the fact that he would be troubled, struggle, or lose outright to Alvarez, because Alvarez is nothing even resembling a top level fighter.
As I said Alvarez is Nothing special. Easy pick for clottey, I just want to see a KO. I'm no fan of Clottey. Pick Cintron KO rd 6.
What "trouble" was Clottey in please point it out.. I watched the whole fight and didn't see Clottey in any trouble whatsoever. Clottey was constantly pressing the fight and was never hurt or no where near hurt or in trouble.
You also were in for more fights than I was, I believe I was only able to predict for 20 fights due to starting late and missing a few. My final prediction percentage was 85%, what was yours? My final streak was also 15 straight correct, the second highest streak for the year and it's just a shame that the year is over already because I am in a nice groove right now. Looking forward to competing in this years.
Guys. ****ing stop already. Jesus. I feel like a leaf in a god damn hurricane here. I guarantee you, Amsterdam, huki, all of you, probably have more respect for Margarito's abilities than I do. STOP ****ing acting like giving credit to Clottey automatically means indirectly legitimizing Margarito. Margarito sucks. Clottey is a solid B+ fighter who beats any non-elite. These two notions can coexist in harmony. Your criticism and disdain of praise for Clottey seems to all be predicated on "hype" siphoned from Margarito's and perpetuated by Margarito fans to make Margarito's "win" more impressive. That is ****ing stupid, you guys, and I have to call you on your ****. The night of their fight I was arguing with Margarito huggers on this board that Clottey won the fight and thought it was ridiculous that they all though he won so clearly - and it is shocking to me that that has become the general consensus of what happened that night. Clottey is NOT a tool to legitimize Margarito as a hyped-up trophy, since he isn't a trophy for Margarito IMO, since he BEAT Margarito. You're using dishonest tactics to sludge someone you don't like (who I don't like EITHER, but that's no reason to slag a good fighter in the process). You act like you're calling Margo fans on their bull**** building Clottey up to be a good contender disingenuously to enhance Margarito. But in actuality it is YOU who are disingenuously degrading Clottey just to take the wind out of Margo's and his fans' sails. I'm sorry, but I don't approve of these tactics and there's a good fighter (never said great, never said he beats a Cotto or Mayweather - but he's a good solid contender and on a FAR higher level than Margarito) getting his name trashed as an innocent victim. Margarito hype is annoying, I understand that. But that's no reason to stoop to his fans' level and resort to disingenous domino tactics (fabricating praise or criticism for one fighter in order to elevate or downplay an opponent). Where are the supposed comments that he would beat elite welters? Where are these statements resulting from his alleged hype from the Margarito fight? All I ever saw is people saying "Clottey vs. any elite welter would be very interesting and entertaining". That should just be a given, a no-brainer for any objective person. Look, Clottey is not "a guy who lost to Margarito". And by that I don't mean "he was winning until...". I mean he won. CLOTTEY WON THE ****ING FIGHT. He won rounds PAST the fourth. NOBODY has taken me up on my challenge to go rewatch the fight. You're all ****ing sheep, on both sides of the fence - both the Margarito hypers and the hype-busters, you all seem to agree that Margarito won the fight without question and that baffles me. That's idiotic. To say that after the hand injury become a factor Clottey was completely out of the fight is ERRONEOUS and is a lazy oversimplification rather than taking the time to look at EACH round and score the fight on a round-by-round mathematical basis. He won about half of the REST of the fight, even as relatively gunshy as he became. Margarito may have been more active but his accuracy was pathetic and ring generalship nonexistent. He did not win eight goddamn rounds straight. He was not the better man in each and every late round (and this is a HURT fighter he was losing rounds to - which goes to show what different levels they're on). It's nice and convenient (and doesn't require alot of attention or thought) to say "Yep, he was winning the early rounds but then it all fell apart" but it's not accurate, at all. And that disgusts me that everybody - ALL of you, the hypers, the haters, and the indifferent - all of you lazy ****s have gone along with the farce that Margarito clearly won eight rounds ever since then, and I've been the one voice of reason challenging that notion and it pisses me off.
Thank you Pac, that's what I'm saying, I don't know if this guy is biased towards Clottey or is just seeing things.
I said 'gave him trouble', as in throwing in a workrate and moving while Clottey comes forward flat footed and with his leaky defence, presenting Alvarez time to score clean punches and at some points for a minute straight. It's ridiculous that Alvarez landed as much as he did against Clottey. It's too bad that Alvarez was not just a little bit better.
No, I actually thought Margarito barely edged it. I gave Clottey the first 4, then 2 of the last four, making for 6 rounds, however - There was one round where Clottey didn't do anything and just ate a load of punches, I don't remember which one, but it was grounds for a 10-8 and I scored it this way. I have never given Margarito the credit of a clear victory, it was anything but that, but I did feel he edged it and I, like most others agree that if not for the hand injury that he would continued to own Margarito.
