Well played pal. Once you stop it for a week and feel the benefits you'll wonder why you ever drank. Expensive, bad for you and not yourself. Pointless.

The only time drinking helps... Is when the other guy is doing it. Alcohol is a depressant. It dulls the nervous system. The first thing alcoholics notice when they give it up is that they are "full of energy".

That being said, if you are just boxing for fun and just occasionally sparring? Cool. Drink away.

If you are getting in there with people trying to REALLY knock your head off? You would be insane.

He should have stuck to just cocaine

Big fan of Tapia btw. I can somewhat relate to his "vida loca" and I think his drug problems are very tragic but understandable.

As long as you don't get drunk and leave yourself time to recover, shouldn't be too bad

If you are serious about boxing, you won't drink or alcohol at all.

Dont go near any alcohol when fighting..Only to celebrate a win..

You would be stupid to drink or do drugs whilst you are actively training for a fight..

    Boxing aint netball.

Wouldnt you want to be nearest to peak condition come FIGHT time..Yes i said FIGHT...

    Thats what boxing is..

    simple sound advice :good

Staying off the booze is a small price to pay in the scheme of things, considering the sacrifices made in order to be fight ready....

So booze will make me worse at boxing? It seems to make my boxing stories a lot better though.

I drink and smoke a little somethinga month before a fight because my body is in such a mess I need something to help me relax. Just don't get so drunk you loose your edge, and count your calories.

One trick i found after a night of drinking is shower yourself with cold water, youe body goes into shock and you can train no matter how much you drink.... unless you drink like a fool, if thats the case don't even put on your gloves.

I am due to fight in 17 days and have a big night out planned tonight. Going to have to do my best not to drink.

Feel fit and I am bang on my weight.

Russian coffee. No elixer like it. I have never been drunk and do not plan on it during my career

Don't take me wrong mate I'm just a kid but I've seen fighters with these issues, we had 3 alcoholics who managed to never touch a drink for months just because Boxing changed their lives.. If you just box as a hobby and want to look good a drink here and there won't kill, the impact is different for every individual + the amount taken but a drink here & there won't hurt you really ..
