Edgar is willing to go down at featherweight and Aldo moving up is no problem, so who wins? :good

Aldo will by forced to move 155 by the middle of next year. I'd put my money on Edgar.

I think Edgar is the better well rounded mixed martial artist - although that is not to say that Aldo is not well rounded. Edgar has the edge in kickboxing and wrestling but it would be interesting to see if Aldo's speed could give Frankie problems. I think this would be a great fight.

Aldo is having trouble making weight anyway, so the logical thing is for him to move up to face Edgar. I'd put my money on Edgar to win but...I find ridiculous that a lot of people think Aldo would get dominated. In 3 fights Edgar didn't actually cruise to easy victories against Maynard (yes, Gray is good but Aldo is great). I can almost guarantee you if Aldo gets Edgar on shaky legs, Jose will finish him. I know Edgar has a heart of a lion but Aldo's speed, intensity, and intelligence makes him a good finisher. Great fight. I won't miss it, that's for sure.

If Edgar wants to get this win then he should go down to 145 and win 2 divisions.

Aldo is not 100% at 145. At 155, he would be much fresher.

Edgar can eliminate the Aldo threat by beating him at 145. No one will want to see an immediate repeat at 155 if the win is convincing. Aldo would need to rebuild at 155 to earn a shot. Edgar would have won a new belt, eliminate a threat while being at an advantage because the weight cut shouldn't hurt him as much as it hurts Aldo.

Must be hard cutting that weight though. Edgar is used to the luxury of focusing for a fight not sweating his bollocks off. Floyd doesn't cut weight and when he neede to cut just 6 pounds for Chavez, he immediately spoke about moving up because of the weight.

    I agree with achilles - Aldo has a better shot a 155Ibs.

Aldo will win, probably KOing him in the first round.

I originally just laughed at the bold statement, but am editing my post. My bad.

I actually disagree with everything you have posted here. I think you have completely reversed the two fighters.

Aldo is more well rounded. He is an MMA Elite Striker, a BJJ World Champ, and has the best TDD next to maybe BJ Penn in the world.

The only interesting thing I see here is if Edgar's footspeed can trouble him with getting in with a shot and taking him down before Aldo can react.

And there is NO WAY Edgar is the better striker (Kickboxer). Sorry.

Gray Maynard stunned Edgar in two consecutive fights and had him stumbling around like a drunk. Now I'm not saying Edgar can't win this fight, I think his speed and footwork can get him takedowns and possibly he can grind out a victory on the ground. Also his foot speed will keep him out of range of leg kicks somewhat. However, Aldo is a MUCH more dangerous striker than Maynard, and he has what BJ lacked, and that is speed that will match Edgar and explosiveness that surpasses Edgar. This is an extremely dangerous fight for Edgar IMO. I would favor Aldo, especially at 155lbs.

Ironically, I think Maynard would be favored over Aldo at 155 though, due to his size and strength. Funny how MMA works.

Double knee in the first round ends all fights
