Aldo's chin has always been pure unadulterated glass, and that was proven once again Sat night.

Simply put, the man has NO CHIN, NONE! The man has glass in his mandible, and I've been saying that for a while now ever since that 13 sec knockout against Conor. No elite fighter gets knocked out by someone stepping back launching a weak depowered left hand. There was no torque or meat in that punch and Aldo still got knocked out. If that doesn't tell you that he has a weak suspect chin, then you definitely can't judge mandibles. It could be naivety or pure delusion. Definitely one of them. There's just no way any man with an IQ higher than room temperature could see it any other way! :sleep3:

He's a good fighter, don't get me wrong, but damn that mandible is made of some fine China!!! The kind you would find at an antique store somewhere. :pancarta:

People can spin it all they want to and they are certainly allowed to do so, but let me ask you guys this simple question, "How many times does a man need to be starched for you to accept this fact?"

Every time Aldo is hit clean, his knees buckle and he inevitably hits the canvas. FFS the man probably splatters onto the canvas more than Piccaso's paints!!! He's been knocked on his back once, on his face the other. He defines what it means to get knocked out!!!

Let's be honest, Halloway's power has always been vastly overrated, the man has no power, NONE. Not saying he's a bad fighter, he's a very good fighter at featherweight, but the man's power simply ain't nothing to write home about.

Old man Lamas, and several other suspect chinned fighters have went the distance with Halloway!

    Discuss.

He actually used to have a pretty good chin in his prime. The Mendes rematch is what ruined his punch resistance imo.

I think Holloway and McGregor would always have his number regardless.

Mcgregor yes, Holloway no. Mcgregor's explosive counters would have always been a nightmare but Prime Aldo would have dealt with Holloway and nothing I saw on Saturday dissuades me from that view. The slowest and most stationary version of Aldo ever was doing great until he started fatiguing in the 3rd. Prime Aldo would have been harder to hit, more active and lighting up that lead leg. Credit to Holloway for getting the job done though. 145 isn't that great of a division anymore so I can see him reigning for a while.

What makes you think Aldo has declined that much? He looked as god as he ever has in the 2nd Edgar fight. Aldo even 5-6 years ago had a tendency to fade in fights... I think his fall from grace has more to do with the division improving than him declining, if he's declined it's only very slightly. Let's not forget that Aldo in his 'prime' was dealing with much smaller and less dangerous fighters.

He isn't completely shot but definitely past prime. Edgar was at a horrible style disadvantage, trying desperately to takedown the guy with the GOAT tdd. It's also possible that he got "old" rapidly , that happens sometimes too. Either way the version of Aldo that stepped into the cage on Saturday was a shadow of his former self, he looked like a completely different fighter in there. Yes he didn't have the greatest cardio even in his prime but that was usually in high paced fights towards the end. And of course he didn't throw his patented leg kicks. I know you'll probably say it's because of the counters but it's much easier said than done and Holloway's footwork leaves him particularly susceptible to them. Yeah I'm sure the popular narrative that will emerge from this just like with Fedor is that Aldo dominated in the infancy of the division before the bigger, better fighters came around to replace him but I don't think that's fair or accurate.

Difference is Fedor was a MUCH smaller guy beating up GREAT fighters who dwarfed him. Aldo has had a size advantage for most of his career, and as soon as he stepped in with guys who could match him on the feet he lost. I won't go as far as the Fedor detractors do and attempt to discredit Aldo's reign, because that's ****ing ******ed as it was a very good run. But I truly believe that the likes of Holloway and McGregor would have been serious trouble for him in his prime as well. Aldo is a great fighter, an ATG at the lower weights.. But yeah. He met his matches in McGregor and Holloway.
Aldo's resume is good. But it consists primarily smaller wrestlers/grapplers who lacked elite striking ability, Aldo would probably beat a lot of the elite wrestlers of 155 as well... But elite strikers with good power and chin seem to be his Achilles heel.

Aldo's chin isn't granite, but it's solid. His issue is that he gassed before the end of the second round. In the third when he was hit with those bombs, and dropped, he wasn't out cold. He was defending intelligently for a long while before turtling up, and submitting. His horrible cardio is what finally did him in. Other than McGregor, Aldo has eaten flush shots from guys with big power, and not been KO'd.
