Say that again. The supposedly best CW Adamek was schooled and ridiculed by the no. 4 LHW and had two close fights with a less than mediocre LHW in this unknown Australian guy. Just a pathetic division since Mormeck and especially Haye left.
He's a 16 fight pro. Stamina and heart can take time to develop. I wouldn't say it's hopeless for him at all.
junior middle is probably just as bad. i have'nt read up on it, but why was the fight stopped anyway? cut?
Yoan Pablo Hernandez , Aaron Williams , Eric Fields , Rudolf Kraj , Marco Huck , Matt Godfrey, and now Alexeev...prospects getting exposed...and losing their "O"...
Alexeev completely ran out of gas and was getting nailed at will at the end. His corner stopped the fight between rounds.
What are you talking about now? I don't think you saw last night's fight. Alexeev took bomb after bomb on his chin and body and still didn't went down. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Than the final punch landed by Ramirez before the end of the 9th round almost decapitated Alexeev and he stumbled rightly so for 1 or 2 seconds before walking back to his corner without much problems. Alexeev has a GRANITE chin. It was his corner that stopped the fight. And I was shocked because I thought he could continue. You are right that his stamina needs to improve. But that is not something that is impossible to achieve. Just a matter of time. He has heart as well. He fought back and took massive punishment every now and than in the fight. But he weathered those storms patiently to come back himself later. Actually the last thing surprised me: he kept his composure ALL the time and stayed patient. If there is one person that hates German boxers and their promoters it's me I think. But after tonight I got some respect for Alexeev.
I'd think that in the last 3 plus years, cruiserweight has delivered more good fights than most other weights. It's had plenty of fights for unified, undisputed or Ring mag titles. There have been good championship fights, good battles between top contenders risking it all, etc. The recent AdamekCunningham fight was fought ata high level of skill, heart and intensity for instance and I belive there's plenty more to look forward to. So what if 2 or 3 prospects got flattened in the past year? Doesn't make it a bad division.
complete and utter nonsense. Adamek lost to Dawson, a fast southpaw yet scored a late KD and was successful in the late rds. There is someone to beat every fighter and Adamek came across the worst style for him. Yet he comes back to beat Cunningham, a similar fighter to Dawson, albeit orthodox. Surely he shouild get a lot of credit. Add to that a stoppage of former undisputed cruiser champ O Neil Bell as well. And you have one hell of a fighter. Briggs is not less than mediocre. He was a very good pressure fighter who picks his shots beautifully. Briggs had an unlucky career without that many opportunities, spoiled by inactivity & avoided by many because he was high risk low reward. While Tarver and Johnson were slapping each other in tired fights for Ring mag titles, Briggs and Adamek were hitting eac other properly in much better quality battles.
