Back in the 1930s there were no PED's. Povetkin's stamina is ****. His footwork is ****. He would be 20-30 lbs lighter if he had no PED's and had to train for 15 rds. Honestly he can barely make it 12 on PED's so there is no way he is going 15 without.
Way quicker! Better combinations! Jesus Christ. I actually feel sorry for all the other old school nuthuggers that are obliged to agree with you for the sake of solidarity.
Give us examples on how Povetkin is quicker and has better combos than Baer. YouTube is at your disposal. You question the general intelligence of members here, but you want them to believe you because you whine more? lol
We don't know the extent or duration of Povetkin's PED use and therefore cannot say for certain how it has improved him as a fighter. Even so, I find it unlikely he'd automatically be 20-30lbs lighter without performance enhancers considering the PEDs he was busted for were used to improve stamina and he's hardly muscle bound as it is. The only way he's 20-30lbs smaller is if he grows up malnourished in the poverty stricken post-Bolshevic era, but that's hardly a fair comparison anymore. Might as well just give him a case of rickets and a withered right arm while you're at it. And what does any of that have to do with his footwork anyway?
lol this is just him hitting the pads to distorted audio. In actual fights, Baer is quicker, more explosive and moves more than Povetkin.
Those are mostly 2 punch combos. Don't have the speed or power of Baers punches. Here's Baer's speed and combos: https://streamable.com/sga1 https://streamable.com/4h2d https://streamable.com/31h0 https://streamable.com/4w2m
He is 20-30 pounds lighter not just because of the ped's. Having to train for 15 hard rounds is going to take weight off. The custom was to train down in weight. Povetkin wouldn't be some exception. A fighter who is on ped's is going to have significantly more muscle mass than when not on them. That is apart of the enhancement. A study was done where 2 groups took steroids and 2 groups didn't. 1 of the groups that took steroids didn't exercise whatsoever during the study and 1 of the groups that didn't take steroids did workout. The study showed that the guys who sat around gained around 7 lbs of muscle in 10 weeks and the group who worked out gained only 4 lbs. The group who took steroids and worked out gained 14 lbs of muscle. So regardless if working out or not, more muscle is going to be built from sitting around and taking steroids vs working out without steroids. True we don't know the duration of Povetkin's steroid usage. That means while we can say he only took it for the Wilder fight we can equally say that he took steroids his entire career. The Russian Olympic team recently got busted for taking steroids didn't they? Why would their pro's be any different?
Not all PEDs are steroids and Povetkin was busted for Meldonium, which is a vasodilator. He may be on roids as well, or any number of other things, but that's what we know he took.
If this guy were around in the 1930's, they would have built a monument to him... This content is protected
I was wrong. Povetkin wasn't on steroids. Meldonium still increases stamina and strength. Povetkin's stamina is still pretty crap even while taking Meldonium. In the 1930s where none of this is available and fighters are fighting 15 hard rounds Povetkin wouldn't last at 230lbs. Too much weight to carry. He barley carries it to 12. He would be considerably lighter which is the point I'm making. I don't really like match ups with guys form the current era's to those of era's such as the 30 simply because there are too many variable in how a fighter would actually be in an older generation. With match ups closer in history like guys from the 70s vs guys from the 50s or what have you that is much easier to determine an accurate scenario.
The combination at 2:05 pretty much sh!ts all over any argument in favour of Baer being the faster, batter combination puncher.
