I didn't make the RBR thread for the chicas in the ring currently; I made it for the main event which is to follow...and which is mano a mano.

 

Eduardo Lamazón has it 40-35 Ortiz.

 

Oh, another fascinating thing about the main event - both Riguccini and Puerta came in at 158lbs.

They both typically campaign at lightweight. Both have fought at super feather. Neither has ever competed at higher than welter.

So what I want to know is, was this scheduled to be a lightweight contest and both of them coincidentally happened to miss weight by the same 23lb margin?? Or did one realize a few weeks out that he was significantly overweight and inform the other's camp, with some backroom deal reached where a fee was paid and they went on with the fight anyway...following which they both happened to balloon to, coincidentally, 158lbs each? Or was this always supposed to be a middleweight contest and they both happened to come in 2lb under the limit?

 

Torres is a gutsy dame but she is getting schooled.

WTF?!?!? Azteca isn't showing Riguccini vs. Puerta, seriously?? They have cut to some entertainment news/variety show. Ortiz vs. Torres was apparently the main event of the broadcast, while the actual main event of the card will not be aired.

 

I sat through all that!?!?

 

Well here I am just a few hours later, at work, after staying up late hoping to have a gander at what Riguccini was about in the ring. I'm reminded of the days (err, several years) when this dumb ass sport had me by the balls and dominated my life.

Result still isn't up.

 

Unsubstantiated result:

there's a video circulating on Twitter & Facebook of some Italian guy recording himself on his cell phone saying, roughly (been a while; io parlo Italiano molto male, poco ricordato) that Riguccini won in the 2nd round. Can not corroborate this literally anywhere.

TKO2ing Puerta is a pretty nice result. (even though it has been done before, multiple times)
