Not the best way to get a title but I'm glad for him.

Lets just hope his next fight is against someone decent. I get the impression Alex will be a better fighter with a belt than he was without

This thread is now open for the UK bashing to begin ! lol

As a Brit, it feels good to bolster our ranks of champions further, but I hate this whole interim nonsense. Can me and a friend hold an interim bout outside of a nightclub on saturday evening for some kind of paper championship - because that is all this is.

Alex should be facing off for the vacant title - should not be awarded it by default.

The interim matches are only held to generate additional monies for the blood sucking alphabets anyway.

Is there any confirmation that he can actually make superfeatherweight right now yet?

They should at least have made him weigh in at 130 before handing him the title.

    Or preferably actually fight someone....

Good. Guzmans people were a joke.

However, Arthur still needs a big defining fight before he is recognised.

    Thats the bottom line.

i think this is typical of frank warren fighters, calzaghe won a wbo against eubank who ahould never have been ranked high enough to fight for it, samr with arthur and kob...., enzo mac against dominguez or whoever, amir khan is headed down the same route with them trying to force nate to relinquish his belt, The FWO just love warren fighters. i think this is 1 reason why british fighters dont get much recognition worldwide. as we get given titles and they are usually WBO.

Now we know the truth about Guzman and his weight gain. The fight was postponed due to visa problems? Guzman needs to redeem himself and jump in the LW division and fight a credible opponent, immediately. Arthur would not have beaten Guzman. Hopefully for Arthur he will be better as a champion, if not, he will lose on his first defense.

if you watch on youtube the fight between guzman and soto, larry says that guzman put on 18 pounds from weigh in to fight night. thats immense!! especially for a little man, so no wonder he had to vacate and move up.

oh and before add graham earl (wbo interim) and gary lockett to that FWO list of british boxers, altho all credit to lockett as he's gonna be ko'd. no way does he deserve a shot at a world title, he has beaten no one of significance ever

no surprise from the Warren Boxing Organisation

as for Guzman, he was walking into the ring weighing 148 pounds. Way too much.

agreed, but warren would want to prolong both fighters careers, i think kevin mitchell beats arthur but warren says he thinks arthur will be a long reigning champ. he prob will be if he keeps defending against foster jnr's! who got the better of him aswell.

I'd love to see Arthur v Mitchell...

There would be some serious fights between the fans at that one!

I dont think its good for the mindset for a fighter to be handed a title, but hey let him run with it. good luck to him
