Ive often wondered why Alex gets called a world champion has he never actually won a world title fight?
He won the interim title and was installed champion , then lost to Nicky Cook for goodness sake who in turn lost to Martinez.
Also i cant understand why he got a MBE for services to his sport, what has he done that hundreds of boxers who've acheived more in boxing hasn't?
This isn't a dig at Alex who was a good Euro level fighter at best but he does seem to get credit for a fighter who hadn't reached the top of his sport!

Sounds like a bit of a dig tbf.

However you're probably correct that Arthur was euro, perhaps fringe world level.

He certainly deserved a crack against the real champion but Joan "scales what scales" Guzman chose to move up in weight and the chance was gone. Hardly Arthur's fault?

These 'awards' are simply a pile of shyte and worthless as there is simply no objective criteria to be met.

At least Andy Murray was red faced when he learned about his recent Sir status and many people get awards by simply doing their jobs for a long time but achieving nothing. Even some public sector senior staff in roles for less than 1 year get nominated for an MBE for services in a field they know nothing about.

An example was an MBE awarded to the Chief Executive of Oxfordshire Council when under her watch, Asian sex beasts were having a field day for years sexually abusing young under age girls. Similar clowns just move to another circus and keep their honour.

These awards mean absolutely nothing nor the family claiming £ms of State Benefits in the UK called a Civil List.

As for Amazing Alex Arthur, decent fighter but far from amazing - a half shot Gomez displayed that in a cracking fight. Losing to Nicky Cook was absolutely **** poor to be fair as well.

Those awards are all colonial and should be banished to dustbin.

Nobody rated Alex Arthur more than Alex Arthur did. Used to talk about himself like the Scotch version of Shane Mosley, but lost every time he attempted to step up to world class. The refusal to pay Jim McDonnell was hardly the act of an OBE recipient either. Maybe the gong is for unnatural looking body transformation post boxing career.

    Simples.

Make a reasonable donation to the political party in government at the time, do a bit of charity work and they will give you a knighthood.

Thats how the system works folks.

I am sure people will be able to find out about his charity work pre knighthood if they search. I always wonder whether these people continue with that work after getting the knighthood.
