    Alex Arthur vs Gavin Rees

Who do you think would win this one right now?

I guess it would have to be around 140 (though Arthur is perhaps going back down and Rees often seems to struggle).

    Two former "world champions" :-D

    Both in the Warren stable...

Reez at LWW I think as well .Would like to see Arthur in with Murray and Mitchell tho hopefully he makes lightweight .What about Rees Paul McCloskey or something that would be good just coming off a prizefighter win as well. Just checked the European boxrec Lightweight rankings.
    1 John Murray
    2 Kevin Mitchell
3 Anthony Mezaache - EBU champ
    4 Alex Arthur

Rees looked a lot better beating similar opposition in Prizefighter to what Arthur did...

Can somebody actually tell me whats so great about Alex Arthur, and how the hell he managed to win a world title? All I keep hearing is that he's got the potential to be one of the greatest british fighters ever, but not in any of the fights i've seen him in, have i just been really unlucly, or is he really as crap as the few times i've managed to come across him. I first heard of him in the late 90's, when a few of my friends claimed he was better than Naz.

The first time i ever saw him fight, he was absolutely dreadful in getting ko'd in 5 to Michael Gomez, but i thought i'd put it down to a bad day.

Then having supposedly scared Guzman into moving up a division, the next time i saw him, he got an asswhooping off Nicky Cool, which he put down to being weight drained, ah well thats fair enough, these thigns happen, but then not to follow it up by losig to a no name in the higher division.

Rees would win this on points, Arthur didnt look interested against Wright and i just dont think he has it anymore, certainly at Euro level and maybe even at British level!

On Saturdays performance Rees would beat him handily at both 135 and 140

If this was to end with a double knockout, we would be the winners. Both are ****ing useless

That is harsh. Sure Arthur hasn't lived up to his potential, but he treat us to one of the greatest domestic fights of all time against Gomez and was a good Euro level fighter. Rees won't ever reach the world stage again, but is a very decent operator at the domestic scene and could possibly challenge for European honours.

John Murray would clean the floor with Arthur every day of the week, The lad is finished.... Maybe Limond will want revenge.

Arthur just seems way to nice. Theres nothing wrong with being friendly and you dont need to talk trash all the time see Manny Pacquiao as an example, but jeez Arthur takes the ****!

I dunno if this is a recent thing or not as I didnt really follow him much around 03/04
