cheers mate for clearing that up it really struck me as odd behaviour i will have to dig this fight out again and give it a watch as from wat i rembered i had arthur as a massive fav for this
but gomez was one of those fighters who u could never right off and wen he was on his game he was very useful yet wen he was nt he could struggle against a journeyman
gomez made me a good few quid in the carl johansen fight i cant post why in here if u want a good story i will pm u the details

Alex is a very heavy drinker from what i hear, drinks jack daniels like water and has done for many years, no doubt interfered with his career

A wee bit full of himself for my liking (he called his son Alex Jnr) and this partly led to his downfall against Gomez at least. Freddie Roach was training him them but wasn't even in his corner. I rewatched that fight the other day, amazing scenes.

After that fight there was less of the sunbed, less of the Holyfield style preaching on the ringwalk, less of the general 'AAA' bollocks, and he came across much better. A good euro level fighter.

They briefly mentioned him fighting for a world strap again also, any chance that'll ever happen?

    No, most likely not.

Mt Mrs also commented on his nose! 'wow, you can tell he's a boxer.' To be honest I hadn't really noticed and he came across really well.

An all scottish showdown for the lightweight WBO title, where Ricky Burns defeats Alez Arthur for the vacant interim strap to become a two weight titlist.

Betty how does calling his son Alex Jr illustrate that hes full of himself? I agree he was cocky, but near everyone names their child after them

I thimk AAA has got to try and prove himself a domestic level first and imho id rate him 5 or 6 just now ,so no chance he fights Ricky at lightweight for WBO strap

Yep, he would make a good pundit. Good talker.

I was just kidding on, trying to think of the most ridiculous way AA could get a world title fight :good I dont think Alex will ever fight beyond domestic level again.

He came across very well. You can tell he's a big fan of boxing. His face lit up when they were asking him questions about upcoming fights.

Hes done from a pro boxing point of view, but Sky should get him in as a pundit.
