IT IS five months since Australia's worst house fire claimed 11 lives and forever scarred the heart of Brisbane's Polynesian community.

Five months since the screams of terror gave way to the agonising wails of grief that greeted Alex Leapai, a 32-year-old Samoan-born father of six, as he joined the hundreds of other mourners from Brisbane's Polynesian communities outside 60 Wagensveldt St, Kingston, shocked at the tragedy that had befallen his neighbours in the early hours of Wednesday, August 24.

great stuff. excellent to see alex is beginning to get some recognition. hell, we know he deserves it. he fights the best opponents he can get, and fights regularly. thereis no 'pretend' in alex..

    and a true story...

the brother of a member of team leapai, a former world champ, and all round funny *******, was at home relaxing on the lounge, eyes closed, tv on......

outside, his nephew, had just witnessed a bloke and his missus having an altercation in the street. the bloke grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and started giving her uppercutts.

the nephew ran into uncles house thinking of getting some help for the embattled woman. "uncle. theres a bloke outside bashing his girlfriend! what can we do?!"

without opening an eye to witness the concern on his nephews face, the uncle replied...."tell her to keep her hands up.."

    :yep

Nice article, didn't know any of Alex's back story. Makes what he has and is achieving that little bit sweeter.

Wish him and his community all the best.

Nice read, I think the end was a bit corny but hey you can't please everyone :hey

I think Alex is going to have a great year this year. Did you see that Kali is fighting Walker on the Geale card in Tassie, I mentioned in KMA that a rematch with Alex would be a great fight seeing as tho some of the bigger fights are hard to match.

Alex Leapai round 1 KO victory over Troy Weida short and smashing the way it should have been so well done to Alex for not ***** footing around.

A nice worthy opponent to kick off the year would be fantastic, maybe a rematch with Travis 'Freight Train' Walker a fight people want to see and Alex would take.
