I've always thought that Queensland has had the best officials in recent times but after watching the Leapai Wilson bout I've gotta say it's time that the heirachy up there addressed a glaring problem. Does someone need to be badly hurt before a certain official gets told that enough is enough. It's bad enough that his instructions do nothing but confuse boxers, trainers and viewers alike, but his response after the knockdown was nothing short of disgraceful. Time for the Qld branch to make some tough decisions before it's too late. PS. Congrats to Alex for a tough patient effort and commiserations to Colin. Your a warrior and a credit to the sport.
Col was hurt after that first uppercut ! At least he didnt get jumped on and hit when he was down! I think that happened in NSW .
Your right Joe Cool, That should never have happened but I hardly think that was the fault of the ref. The situation I'm referring to was a blatant disregard for the safety of a fighter. This could only occur through incompetence. There is plenty of talk about it and it will be interesting to see if the Qld branch take a stand on it. I try not to criticise officials if possible but the referee himself should realise that his performances nowadays just don't cut it.
Leapai wants hoppa lets get it on. http://www.thechronicle.com.au/story/2009/06/23/leapai-throws-down-challenge-hopoate/
Julian the guys in this game are not signing up to play marbles ! Most of the problem is with fighters is the flued lost when loosing weight which protects the brain and Col did have a reported 27 scooners before the weigh in !
i see leapai has 4 more fights lined up for this year and i quote haumono mentioned the same that he's going to have 10 fights by the years end and the aussie title so far he's only had 2,a draw and getting KO 15sec 1st rnd hhhhhhhmmmmmm!!
