Right man won..... But Boystov did this to himself. He had multiple opportunities to make fights and stay sharp. He turned them down for $$$$ reasons. Essentially, he has unintentionally sent himself back to the drawing board.:-(
Heard the commentators saying he was partying too much too and ****ing around before the fight. Heart and dedication beat talent tonight.
BOYTSOV was once a good up and coming contender but then just became another wasted talent with inactivity. LEAPAI will be chased for a fight by pretty much every Heavyweight contender.
Huge upset tonight, Alex Leapai beat #1 in WBO ranking Denis Boytsov by UD. Leapai will get a title shot next year against Wladimir Klitschko. Does he have a puncher's chance, or will it be a boring one-sided fight? Wladimir also has to fight Pulev next year and will probably face an American again (Arreola? Jennings?) Boytsov is done, seems like he was totally overhyped.
That's a good point! They'll all be after his neck because he's the man who beat boytsov and hes very beatable.
LEAPAI being interviewed. Very emotional and Crying, he says something in Moari. Says he injured himself in 7th rd but carried on with heart. Seems like a nice guy and glad he won.
I had it 95-94 Boystov.. but most of the rounds were hard to score and could have gone either way. No Robbery....Boystov looked awful, at one point he was a decent prospect but he really let himself go. sad really..... Leapai should fight Wilder next, I don't think he's earned a fight with Wlad, especially with this performance.
He was speaking in Samoan, man. If he was Maori he would be a fellow New Zealander and not an Aussie.
why should he fight wilder? Boystov was ranked 1 and leapai beat him give credit where its due, his power won him the fight and at least he can stake a claim to fight klitscko more then some other heavyweights that's had there chance
Miss jab, hold, repeat, miss jab, take uppercut, repeat, awful fight. Better man won but neither man are going to ever make waves. Merely a couple of small splashes in the small pond of heavyweight talent that defines this era. I'd say Lucas Browne should target Leapai as a good domestic battle and for Boystov, back to the same-old beating E-level fighters, stick a fork in him.
