Do you know the particulars of the little dialogue between Walker and Cairns just prior to the stoppage?

Finally gettin round to watching this fight.

1 minute in...I love these Aussie commentators........

"Alex Leapai! He's got a right hand like Mike Tyson!.....or David Tua!"

No. Cairns couldn't hear him and Walker doesn't remember the ending of the fight, so that one will never get explained. When you start talking to the referee when you're getting punched, it doesn't help your cause.

As I said, Travis has viewed the footage plenty of times and had no complaints. A rematch down the line, even Stateside, would be great.

This is about a month old (just before the Beck fight, but since the 1st Walker match) but still interesting. It includes a bit of him sparring with a well-ranked kickboxer named Ben Edwards (who's 31-7-2 with 29 knockouts, and is about to challenge top heavyweight Alistair Overeem in October...) as well as a brief highlight of his brutal shattering of Australia's ultimate journeyman Bob Mirovic.

    [yt]T_TKawP4Ccg[/yt]

It's odd - the way he tells it, he could have either had a shitty childhood in a rough neighborhood - or a middle/lower-middle class upbringing in one of those suburbs where kids get in trouble just because they're bored. :think

In any event, he seems a nice kid.

As with the 1st match, I don't really have a rooting interest in Leapai-Walker 2 - it's "may the best man win! (and do so decisively!!!!)" for me. :good

Leapai winning would erase all doubts about the 1st match and further propel him to big things on the world stage.

Walker winning would a) make for a nice story of continually coming back to avenge knockout losses (having set a precedent with TJ Wilson) and b) set up a rubbermatch. :happy

I was just in contact with Walker the other day, and he has no knowledge of there ever being a rematch with Leapai. Where did this rumor start anyway? Sources?

Wow, Chuck - that's a pretty big shock.

The regulars in the Aussie forum here have been treating it as a done deal for a couple of weeks now. It's listed on Boxrec (but not the ESPN schedule).

That's very interesting (and unnerving). :think

I'm unsettled about it as well my friend. I will ask Walker again and see if he was just joking with me the first time around, but he sounded sincere.
