No Australian has won a fully fledged world heavyweight title ever, and Brisbane truck driver Alex Leapai has the chance Sunday morning our time to win a collection of them if he can somehow find a way to get the job done against longstanding champion Wlad Klitschko.

Noel Thornberry has confirmed Alex Leapai is suffering soreness in his right shoulder. Not ideal a couple of days out from the biggest fight of your life when your main weapon is a bolo punch. But so much misinformation is coming out of both camps how would you know what to believe?

I think that's the feeling of most people. But boxing is one of those uncertain sports and you really only are ever one punch from disaster. Particularly with a guy like Leapai who can certainly deliver sleeping tablets.

i think that Alex's best chance to win, would be by an early/quick knockout.....three have caused Klitsco to a tko before; Alex getting up close and personal and firing away early might be the go....either way, cannot see it going more than 6. Fighting a big bloke like klitsco is a huuge mountain to climb.

That was for the WBO title Brewster had won from Wlad the fight previously, and yeah I had Meehan winning it too.

Difference here is Leapai is fighting for nearly all the heavyweight belts that matter. Not just the WBO.

The longer Leapai leaves his attack the more damaged he will get from that long, accurate Wlad jab.

Leapai might be best employing the Jimmy Carrothers approach and just going hammer and tong from the first bell.

it was still a fully fledged title that u said.

not a coco pops packet title.

and everybody had kali winning, even Brewster told him so, lol. and appologised to him.

My thoughts exactly, and what I was trying to say, but just couldn't spit it out, thanks 'like a boss'...

Hope Alex can pull it off, only takes one punch but the klit koff is a smart boxer, i doubt he will engage Alex on the inside

Wish Alex the best. Just hope him and Noel haven't over thought this.

Hope he goes balls to the wall for the first 4 as I think 99% agree that is the only chance he has got. I worry when I read that they're training to go 12.

Don't over think it and let it all hang out Alex. Much respect.

I don't think they are fooling anyone with this "training to go 12 rounds" stuff. Good on Leapai for getting into great shape, but the longer it goes the flatter his nose will be from eating Wlad's jab. At least being in great shape might mean Leapai has the stamina to launch a few sustained attacks. Provided of course he can find his way inside a few times without being clinched.
