Alex Miteff tears his bicep. Ali fights Ingo instead

I hope his bicep has fully recovered.

 

Technically, Ali could’ve been DQ’d.

You’ll see when Liston props himself on one arm - he falls back down JUST AS Ali comes wheeling back around in his victory dance. Also, so much for Ali screaming for Sonny to get up - Ali started his “victory” lap even before 10 secs had elapsed since Sonny hit the deck (I’d say Liston was down for about 6 secs when Ali started in on his circuits around the fallen Liston.

That fight was screwed up at so many levels it wasn’t funny.

For another notable breach example, Ali refused to retreat to a neutral corner after knocking Bonavena down. Ali wanted to get back to Oscar so bad, he even slapped down the ref’s outstretched restraining arm to keep moving in.

 

That is very cool. I couldn’t find anything on a quick search. That’s why I gave myself an open cheque - “Where ever he may be”. LOL.

 

Sure, not to preclude the ever lethal cartoon anvils (in one cartoon they even erased a parachute to replace it with a drawn in anvil) but I had a softer spot myself for the grand pianos crushing those beneath. Sometimes they used an upright piano too - poor man’s version imo.
