Juan Alejandro Saucedo Ortiz is a 5'10 21 year old Welterweight with a 20-0 14 KO's record. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico and raised since he was 6 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As a kid he was a soccer player, but when his Dad took him to a Boxing Gym he's never looked back. He went on to win more than 150 matches as an amateur, he was planning on fighting in the Olympics for Mexico, when got an incredibly lucky break he was seen while he was sparring by Manny Pacquiao, Manny was so impressed with his skills he became one of Manny's sparring partners, leading Manny to suggest to Bob Arum to sign him with Top Rank, which is exactly what Bob did. He's got skills, he not your typical banging head first Mexican, he's a little more thought out than that, a little more meticulous. He's got decent defense, a good left hook to the body and head, and a very good right cross. he's got decent looks he reminds me of Vicious Victor in the face so he'll be easy to market, hopefully he has a better chin. His nickname comes from when he was a kid he wore his older brothers clothes which were far too large and looked baggy on him. So Check Out El Cholo from Chihuahua he's Pretty Good.:toney:toney:toney:toney

I will not say the kid doesn't look good. He does look good. I hope he stays on track. But I think its about time to get a little better opposition. Of course I am not sure about this kid amateur experience. I am comparing him to this other prospect that is also 15-0 (11KO) Felix Verdejo. Check out in boxrec and compare the records of the opponents. The opponent quality is far superior for Verdejo. I do know Verdejo has very good amateur experience and I don't know about Saucedo. May be he needs more time and more experience. I guess that is a question for his trainers. You can also watch a couple of Verdejo's videos online.

Hope the best for this guy, it'd be cool to have a star right from the city where I stay. He looks to have a really solid boxing presence of mind, the comp needs to be stepped up to really know where he stands. And they need to change his name imo, not only is "el cholo" really dorky, it doesn't send out the right message, no one is afraid of gangster's except other gangster's.

At the moment Verdejo is far more advanced, I did a thread on him as well, he was one of the first prospect threads I did, he's the epitome of a blue chipper.
