Anyone excited for this one? Could catch fire with the mix of styles. Zappa has opened as a +333 underdog. Zappa is always a great watch and has been in multiple FOTY contender scraps for several years now. Saucedo is going to be have a substantial size and reach advantage here, and he seems to have just enough power to really lump his opponents up. Knowing what a bleeder Zappa is, I can't imagine anything else but this bout being a bloodbath. Should be a good watch in an otherwise slow weekend of boxing.
Considering Saucedo's poor early form in his last bout, an upset, by stoppage, would not surprise me here. Zappa is a solid operator, closing in on 40 wins. He was written off by the bookies against Yang a couple of years ago as well. I just can't get over how easy the kid is to hit, and his chin obviously isn't iron though his heart and recovery are great. He also swells badly and both his eyes were going in his first real step up last time out.
I initially picked Zappa, but buckled and flipped over to Saucedo, fearing Lenny might be too shot and old, but I might flip back, because the doubts creeping through my head won't be quiet, I keep having flashbacks of the pasting he gave to Ik Yang and the absolute hell he put Lipinets through, and as much as I like him, I can't shake the feeling that Saucedo, who isn't all that better than Yang, may be in store for a similar fate. Yeah Zappavigna will bring it non stop, and that'll put him in harm's way, possibly walking onto a bomb, but if he can take the firepower of Lipinets for 7 rounds, he can definitely take the firepower of Saucedo for long enough to land a bomb of his own.
I don't think people understand quite how great a clash of styles this fight is. It's going to be good for as long as it lasts.
