Excell Holmes vs. Vladimir Goncharov, 4 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Round 1

Goncharov moves in, fists raised and ready, and tosses a few sidearm jabs at Holmes while walking him down. Holmes tries to skip backward, a step ahead of Goncharov, and hold him off with a trickle of left jabs. Goncharov bashes him across the dreadlocks with a right hand, then one flush to the nose. Make that several more rights. Holmes is getting his neck muscles worked out, constantly bobbling from the force of Goncharov's right hand. Now a left hook to break up the monotony, also landing clean across Holmes' face. Holmes retreats behind a jab, skipping to the ropes. Holmes plants his feet and dives forward with a right hand to the body and then falls back before Goncharov can retaliate. Goncharov walks him to the ropes and gets in another right hand to the side of the head. 1-2's coming forward by Goncharov.

Round 2

Goncharov moves forward, high jab to the face. Holmes ties him up and shakes him in the clinch. Slapping left hook by Holmes. Goncharov ducks a wild right hand and left uppercut and jabs up at Holmes. More wild punches from Holmes, nicking Goncharov as he steps in low. Goncharov's hair is becoming a mussed and matted mess as Holmes rubs his fists against it while drawing him along toward the ropes. Right hand through the gloves and a left hook to the body by Holmes. Goncharov keeps chasing but barely letting his hands go and missing when he does.

Damn, Excell actually excelled there.

Goncharov is pitching forward throwing sloppy overhands. Holmes is winging hooks around his elbows and digging into his sides. Now Holmes begins to step back, load up a right over the top and fall into a clinch. Holmes keeps alternating between punch and grab or flick and run tactics. Both are frustrating Goncharov.

Round 4

Holmes is pot shotting, bounding across the ring and pushing his left out. Goncharov falls in against him with hooks to the head, sending Holmes' braids standing on end. Goncharov grabs Holmes and squeezes his arms together after every volley. Holmes tries to wrestle him off but lacks the energy.

Anybody know Russian? Those look...off, to me. Ordinarily they'd be listed jab/power/total. Those tallies don't add up (or rather, subtract) properly...

I'm operating on the assumption that it's Excell Holmes' stats on the left and Vladimir Goncharov's on the right...
