Troyanovsky is pumping the jab and circling around Von Minoza in double-time. A few right hands by Von Minoza, but he's conserving energy and not stalking as aggressively. Long tie-up, both eager to rest. Troyanovsky takes the initiative, whipping Von Minoza with hooks from outside and building up into power flurries to the head as Von Minoza shrinks against the ropes and wraps his gloves around his head.

Not impressive at all. He struggled like hell on the with the Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Kaizer Mabuza undercard with the aforementioned feather-fisted Brazilian journeyman Claudinei Lacerda, and was actually hurt by him a few times. :err

He won by a very bizarre TKO from what didn't even seem to be a legal punch. Troya probably should have been down on the cards at the time of the stoppage, level at best.

 

Denis Shafikov vs. James Onyango, 10 rounds @ welterweight

 

By the end of the RBR thread we all were mocking him as "The Virus" (Trojan) :!:

 

Round 1

Shafikov steps inside, quick bullet right jabs and 1-2s. Onyango tries to hold him steady with a left jab, but is much slower to get off. Onyango idles in an odd heart-shaped guard, with his gloves spread apart by his face but elbows squeezed tightly together at his abdomen. Wide hooks by Onyango, easily dodged by Shafikov dancing backward and to the left. Quick flurry to the body by Shafikov. Machine gun burst of straights to the head after circling a bit and leaping in again.

Round 2

Shafikov keeps the jab working, in and out. Onyango reaches over with his right hand but comes nowhere close. Shafikov is dancing circles around him, then stepping in with quick shoe-shines to the head. Slow jabs by Onyango. They press together and Onyango finally connects, slapping an uppercut to the body. Shafikov answers with three fast body shots of his own before fading from view. 1-2 from outside by Shafikov, dancing away as Onyango moves forward and then leaning in to pound his body.

20-18 Shafikov

 

Round 3

Shafikov slaps Onyango with a right hook to the head and then drills a left to the body. Shafikov cleaves in close to Onyango and works straight combos between that wide guard with bracing shots to the body preventing Onyango from strafing off to either side. Quick right jabs by Shafikov fly past Onyango's ponderous left jab. Shafikov keeps pecking away to the face of Onyango with his jab. Onyango catches Shafikov in a headlock, the most he's touched him all round. Shafikov deflects a jab on his right glove and then snaps it up into Onyango's face in the same motion.

30-27 Shafikov

 

Round 4

Shafikov moves in, jabs into Onyango's face and scoops the left into his body. Onyango seizes his chance to unload on Shafikov but all his shots are slipped with quick footwork or picked out of the air on Shafikov's gloves.

40-36 Shafikov
