Alexander Alexandrovich Besputin is a 5'6 24 Welterweight/Super Welterweight with a 1-0 1 KO's record. Born in Kamensk-Uralsky, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia and fighting out of Oxnard, California. A decent amateur in Russia Alexander was 2012 Russian Champion in and the 2013 European Champion, he's recently tuned pro under the managerial guidance of Egis Klimas, which is a good thing, however he's fighting for Bob Arum's Top Rank which may not be such a good thing, since he's currently in the process of derailing many top recent EE amateurs turned pro careers, hopefully this fate won't befall him. He's being trained out of Oxnard by who else, Robert Garcia who's leading the vanguard of EE fighters fighting out of the US. He's got a very pro friendly style he's aggressive but responsible, good punch selection and accurate, good footwork and is fairly heavy handed. So Russians have been slowly taking over the higher divisions, now they're starting to stake their claim on the middle divisions as well. Besputin is a great last name as well since it sounds so much like famed evil Russian Mystic of the Romanov family Grigori Rasputin, look him up. Even Robert Garcia says this isn't a trend its here to stay, now get accustomed to it. Welterweight and Junior Welterweight is their next target.:deal

"There are a lot of Russians and other Europeans. I can say that isn't going to come to an end anytime soon. At least 10 years it should last. There isn't just one guy. They are coming in waves. We have guys in the gym now who are turning pro. The Filipino era already went through and I think the Argentine era is coming to an end and now the Russians are coming. These guys don't turn pro at 18 or 19. They turn pro at 25 or 26 and have a good 7 or 8 year run. Look at Triple GGG. He is almost 34 and still going strong.

We have a guy Egis Kavaliauskas, like you said Top Rank said is their hardest puncher - that isn't even me saying that. It isn't just that he knocks everyone out. It is the way he does it,"

I don't rate Besptin incredibly high yet, but he's got potential.

If the Irish group turn pro, I think they will do well like a mini invasion unlike the russian's being a full assault.

I agree the Irish have a ton of good amateurs right now. Barnes, O'Reilly, Conlon, Ward, Joyce and even Katie Taylor.

Good list. I think Joyce might make the best pro out of the lot even though his the least accomplished amateur. Got a hell of an engine and is a good puncher. I'd love to see what power he has when he puts the small gloves on

I'm going to be doing a thread on Conlon, Barnes and Joyce in the hear future. I've already done one on O'Reilly and Ward.
