Alexander for whatever strange reason decided to quit, when he could have taken another 30 seconds and continued on. But what is even more frustrating about this fight, and his last fight is that he looks physically like an outstanding fighter but there is this strange flaw. He has fast hands but a slow/sloppy sense of timing. He is not accurate. I am thinking that he needs to get rid of this ghetto trainer to start with, but I am wondering if he is just a busy fighter who can never really hit the mark. He has shown power in the past, but he can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn. At this point I think of him as a very poor man's Meldrick Taylor.
wasn't ever really impressed with him tbh I first saw him in the Junior Witter fight. He doesn't do any special effects
There's a lot of weird things about him. He has quick hands...but he's generally not all that exciting (the KO in the Urango fight not withstanding). As far as techniques...his timing does seem kind of off. He also has the frustrating technique of keeping his guard low. He's fast...but he really should keep that guard up at the top level, Witter touched him often(even though Devon dominated), Urango touched him, and obviously Koetelnik bothered him a lot. Some of this is just a need for experience, it's just a loss against a top Jr. Welterweight, it's unfortunate that losses have seemingly become crippling to a career over the years but I think Devon can learn from it and develop.
"the good thing is Devon is only 23 yrs old...he has time on his hands to develop" True -- hopefully he will rebound. It looks like he has potential, but right now there is something really big that is missing.
The dude might need some Lasik. Seriously. He comes up short when he punches so often, I wonder if there's not a legitimate vision issue with him.
