Anyone remember this very hard hitting CW? He absolutely took years off of Enzo Mac when they fought. Brutal finish with an awesome three-piece. Made some noise, then contract issues became a hindrance. Then he retired. Anyone remember him? How far could he have gone? How would he fit into today's division? Dude had frightening power.
He was a decent upcoming fighter with a good power but otherwise I didnt see too much to get excited. Typical Ulli Wegner fighter: Good power, decent technique but not allowed to use imagination, no head movement, high guard, slow feet, robotic style without changes of rhythm. Decent fighter for sure but not the world champ in the making. Maccarinelli KO was sick.
Very talented fighter such a shame he decided to retire. Vicious puncher All timestamped Absolutely savage KO - Frenkel always used to nonchalantly walk away like that after KHOTFO This content is protected This content is protected Going left uppercut and left hook crazy on Kelvin Davis This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected One of only 3 fighters to stop Lithuanian journeyman Remigijus Ziausys. Ziausys has had 105 fights since 2006 and his other 2 inside the distance loses have come in the last 4 years, and the one in 2013 in his 80th fight was against a HW who outweighed him 279lbs to 209lbs. And Frenkel KO'd him in 2 whereas both his other stoppage loses were TKOs. Ziausys has lasted the distance against the likes of Helenius, Chisora, Dillian Whyte, Wach, Drozd, Glowacki, Youri Kalenga x 2, Giacobbe Fragomeni, Bogdan Dinu, Christian Hammer, Ian Lewison among others Excerpt from an old Frenkel interview On the Maccarinelli KO (one of the worst KOs I've ever seen) J.S: You certainly got better in that 7th-round! Was that the best left hook you’ve ever landed? A.F: In the amateurs, I scored a lot of knockouts – maybe twenty 1st-round KO’s. I had so many amateur knockouts that were just like this one, so I can’t really say if that was the hardest one. But it was one of the hardest, yes.

Yeah the enzo one was shocking by the ref how he didn't wave it off after the first knockdown enzo was clearly in no state to continue.
If you'd have told me that after Enzo-Frenkel, one of the fighters would never fight again, I'd have believed you 100%. Once told you told me that fighter was Frenkel, I'd have thought you were full of crap and laughed it off. Crazy sport.
@ Serge - Absolutely awesome posts, sir! Much appreciated for those videos. How come Alex stayed retired? And what is he doing these days?
Thanks. I haven't heard anything new for years, the last thing I heard he was suffering from depression. I vaguely remember hearing talk of him planning on making a comeback at one point but I don't know if there was any truth to it. It's been 7 years since he last fought but he's only 32.
Frenkel quit boxing due to depression. There hasn't been any news on him for years though, so I don't know what he is doing nowadays.
Frenkel vs Huck, Hernandez, Wlodarczyk, Lebedev, Afolabi etc would have been great, I'm sure he would have picked up a couple of big wins if he stuck with it.
Here's the quote I remember reading from IB's thread. I forgot who the source was but it's Mordechai so must be true
