Chris Camozzi vs. Trevor Smith - 3 rounds at Middleweight

 

Both start the round pawing until Smith shoots for a double and gets Camozzi down against the fence about 30 seconds in, Camozzi is working for an Omaplatta for a good while but Smith is able to slip out and punishes Camozzi with ground and pound until Camozzi is able to force his way back to the feet at around halfway point of the rd.. Where Smith clinches him against the fence and peppers with strikes until he gets Smith down to the mat with about 1:20 to go in the round, he cracks Camozzi with a big left hand at about 40 seconds and spends the rest of the round in Camozzis half-ground. 10-9 Smith easy.

 

Smith takes Camozzi with a nice right hand about 10 seconds in and then gets Camozzi down against the fence with a nice ankle pick takedown, where he smothers and picks away at him with heavy but not quite concussive ground and pound, at around 2:45 to go Camozzi appears to have been busted open from a Smith elbow. Camozzi is just holding on for dear life, doing all he can to minimize Smith's assault and prevent a pass to full mount. All Smith at this point... Camozzi is battered and broken. Dominant round for Smith, with almost zero in the way of offense from Camozzi. 10-8 Smith.

 

Camozzi certainly needs a finish to avoid a loss here, that was very likely a 10-8 round for Smith.

 

Smith starts the round shooting for a double at around 15 seconds in, Camozzi stuffs it but is pushed back into the cage. There Smith picks away with knees to the leg while retaining position against the cage... Two minutes in and Camozzi is still being controlled against the cage, a few seconds later Smith gets yet another takedown where a passive Camozzi holds on in half-guard. Smith appears to be working a Kimura, doesn't do much with it but is able to pass to full mount with about 50 seconds to go in the round. He lands a couple of nice shots but Camozzi is able to get back to a slightly better position, where he rides the rest of the round out with his head pushed into the cage. 10-9 Smith.

Pedro Munhoz vs. Damian Stasiak - 3 rounds at Bantamweight

 

It's a kickboxing match early on in the center of the cage, both guys trading low kicks but it Munhoz who's controlling the action and landing the harder and more telling shots... Big kick to the body and a few blocked high kicked attempts from Muhnoz, Stasiak shots for a takedown and Munhoz locks up a Guillotine but isn't able to close the show. Now they're back on the feet trading again, Stasiak is landing some decent combinations every now and then but it's still Muhnoz who's coming forward and doing the better work. another takedown attempt from Stasiak but Munhoz sprawls, separates and circles off the cage where they start to trade again. Stasiak lands a nice uppercut at about 20 seconds in but Munhoz eats it, Stasiak catches a kick and gets Munhoz and finally takes Munhoz down at the bell.

Spinning back kick to the body from Stasiak, Munhoz spears Stasiak with a stinging jab to the face. Munhoz is walking Stasiak down, but not doing much... Stasiak is countering nicely with uppercuts and good punching combinations.. Munhoz throws up another high kick attempt with about 3:20 on the clock but it's mostly blocked, Munhoz sprawls on a takedown attempt and looks to set up another guillotine attempt before spinning around to take the back... Doesn't do much with the position and now both guys are back to the feet trading, Stasiak is doing the slightly better work from the backfoot, but he'll have to do better than that if he wants to earn the judges favor. Munhoz is constantly shooting for takedowns, all of which are sprawled by the Pole.. Munhoz drills him with a right kick to the body, but Stasiak catches it and tries to use it to throw the Brazilian to the mat... That's about it as they both circle around the middle trading like they have been for the majority of the bout. TIght round....

Edge it to Munhoz but only slightly.

 

Munhoz capitalizes on an off balance Stasiak and secures a lazy takedown about a minute in, quickly they're back to the feet trading in the center of the ring... Munhoz grabs a thai plum and drills stasiak with a few knees..

Munhoz is walking Stasiak down throwing low kicks and jabs, Stasiak is returning fire but it's the Brazilian who appears to have more left in the tank. Munhoz gets another lazy takedown, and quickly spins to the Poles back... They're up against but Munhoz is still holding on and quickly slams Stasiak back to the mat, Stasiak quickly gets up only to be slammed back to the mat two more times... After the 3rd brief slam takedown both finish the last 10 seconds or so trading in the center of the ring.

10-9 Munhoz. 30-27 Munhoz, 29-28 is fine as well.
