Petkovic is scheduled to make the fourth defense of his GBU heavyweight title.

Saglam, a hulking Turk based in Germany, is batting a mere .500 in his last eight outings after getting off to a padded 27-0 start - but has actually gained more respect in breaking even over that period than when he was a 'prospect', proving a hard assignment in his losses to Mike Wallisch and Odlanier Solis and even in his "TKO" loss to Manuel Charr (over whom Saglam was, alarmingly, starting to show flashes of dominance before he was forced to retire via injury...)

This should be the biggest test for Petkovic in his GBU reign - or entire career, barring losing struggles with Johnny Nelson and Firat Arslan - to date.

    :blood .... :think

    ...or, um, a non-show. :huh

Not only was the card supposed to have begun on EuroSport twelve minutes ago now (they have continued airing Sochi Winter Olympic coverage without missing a beat) - Saglam and Petkovic have both vanished off the event Boxrec page.

    Like, just now.

There is nothing in the way of explanation on Twitter.

So...er, something presumably happened with one guy or the other? ...and EuroSport apparently didn't feel like "Kai Kurzawa vs. Henadzi Daniliuk, for the German International Cruiserweight title" was a worthy substitute for a televised main event in place of extended Olympics coverage? :conf

See you guys in a couple of hours for Boschiero vs. Jacob, I guess.

...unless that gets canceled too. :!:

Brit EuroSport just launched into "NFL GameDay Live". :patsch

Yes, the NFL - the sport that is only played on this side of the Atlantic and not in Britain or anywhere else in Europe. That is what British EuroSport is showing - a prerecorded documentary show about that sport.

They must have cameras set up @ the venue in Koepenick, since they were planning to go ahead with this feed as of earlier today. Just start rolling and show us some damn boxing!!! :cus It sucks that Petkovic or Saglam dropped out last minute (or whatever) but don't completely gyp us.

Admittedly I have never heard of Daniliuk or Kurzawa - but screw it, whatever the level, fights are fights and we have addictions to feed!

Huh. I did some digging and Kurzawa's record is really not terrible. A couple of decent wins sprinkled throughout (Cummings, Mock, and German bar-fighting legend turned late-blooming Universum hype job Dollinger in a rematch, swapping knockouts to go 1-1...) and challenged both Drews and Brancalion for their Euro belts.

He also was apparently ducked by Danny Green after some talk of a pro rematch began to boil (Green was knocked out by Kurzawa in the amateurs!) and in turn himself blatantly ducked Adrian Diaconu when they were both young unbeaten pros coming up and scheduled to collide with their zeroes on the line.

Eh. I have watched far worse on a Friday afternoon. I would've been game to see Kurzawa thrash a random old chinny banger from Belarus. Too bad. Thanks for literally nothing, EuroSport.
