Alexander Povetkin has some decent names on record. His first live opponent being the durable Friday Ahunanya who was beaten via UD.
Next Povetkin beat Larry Donald (famously punched twice by Bowe at a Press conference) and then Povetkin went thru former heavyweight champ Chris Byrd by TKO victory. His next good win is unbelievable but yes Povetkin somehow beat the slick Eddie Chambers by UD followed by a win over Jason Estrada and Nicolai Firtha.

Povetkin won the fake WBA title b beating the old Ruslan Chagaev in a tough fight. Followed by returning gatekeeper Cedric Boswell.

In his second to last fight,Povetkin faced WBO CW champ Marco Huck.
Povetkin looked like **** and was repeatedly rocked by the smaller Huck but he won a controversial decision. And finally Povetkin beat up former HW champ, the corpse of Hasim Rahman (pictured below)

Povetkin has some good wins but he did fight like **** against Huck. His last few fights haven't been big challenges so Can he beat Klitschko?
    I doubt it.

he will never beat a Klitschko, not now, not ever

he will be a top contender though, in the post K-bro era, assuming he doesn't recieve a Sam Peter/Shannon Briggs type beating

Povetkin is a pretty good fighter..
He is better than the average belt holder in boxing, and he would probably have been the top dog if it wasn't for the Klitschkos (him vs Haye may be interesting). But he falls short of being of superstar material ..

Yeah you know he actually has beaten some good names. The Huck fight was bad but he just had an off night.

Yeah he has.. But most of them were after they had suffered severer beatings from Wladimir.. Eddie Champers was a quality win though

Question is, will he stick around after being knocked the **** out by Wladimir? He may be one of the top guys in the post Klitschko era. But that will probably be 3-4 years down the road. My guess is he'll retire soon after the Wladimir fight. He's going to be eating that Wlad right hand when ever they do fight. Sounds like early next year.

Povetkin is decent, one of the more respectable HWs in the current era.

He beat Chambers, Donald & Byrd in his first 15 fights.

Chambers, Chagaev, Byrd, Huck, Donald, Boswell
^ Great top tier wins for a HW resume in the contemporary era.

I think Povetkin would be the best or among the very best W on either Klitschko's resume.

It's unfortunate his peak was 4-5 years ago and he has regressed since then.

Used to be a big fan of Povetkin. I remember he beat a guy with one hand, cant remember the fight.

Hope he can get his ass in shape to fight Wlad.
