Alexander Povetkin is the best heavyweight on the planet

Good win by Sasha, he looked a lot better than he did vs Huck.

HOWEVER....he was consistently getting hit by Wach's (very good) jab, followed by a straight right. Had I been in Wach's corner I would have said one thing and one thing only between rounds...."jab, jab, jab".

Wilder has a better and stronger jab than Wach. If Wilder was watching, and he should have been watching, he's learned something, which is, that you can keep Povetkin at arm's length with a strong a steady jab.

IDK if Wilder would hold up against the big shots that Povetkin landed, but if he boxes with the jab plan, he could get away with a win, because he wouldn't be getting hit solidly by the winding left hooks and straight rights that Povetkin can throw.

 

Povetkin is an absolute BEAST. First person to get a stoppage vs what I consider an indestructible human being.

 

Yes, but for how long? Wlad is near 40. If they never meet again, perhaps Povetkin takes the #1 spot by 2017?

He'll knock Wilder out for sure if they fight.

I agree. I don't understand the level of support Wilder receives. He looks awful.
I hope Povetkin fights and defeats him because I think Povetkin, Joshua and Parker would make for great HW fights before Sasha is too old.

Wake me if Wilder ever beats a top ten opponent as champion. His last two opponents exposed him, and there were top 25-40ish.

Sasha is my favourite HW but he ain't getting any younger either. Will be 38 by then. I'd rather put my money on Joshua, Usyk or Parker

He's second in my view wihich is no disgrace given the man on top. It would be great to see him in with Wilder.

Wilder's footwork is bad. He has his feet so far apart, it looks like he's trying to do the splits.

Maybe that's cause he is 6'7 with long legs. Nothing wrong with his footwork. His defense is not exceptional but not terrible either. Speed alone gives him something of a good defense.

Povetkin fought a guy today who looked like he had lead in his legs. He certainly proved nothing with regards to his ability to get inside.
