Povetkin threw 77 shots per round, not 90. Yeah I know that's being pedantic but I like me some punchstats. Still notable volume of course.

Hasim Rahman threw 82 per round vs Lawrence, 78 vs Toney, 76 in the first Tua fight...if Povetkin is a punching machine as some say here, then Rahman deserves much more recognition for his volume too.

Rahman?? 82 a round is a good mark but where was that in his OTHER FIGHTS?:D Then there's KO issues, but I digress.

As for the stats? i've yet to rewatch, too painful still:-( But AP had some huge rounds maybe the average was 77, but they were mostly hard combos. Chambers spent too much time absorbing them on his guard rather than getting off with his own shots second half.

Povetkin looked dead in between but threw, and threw, AND THREW:good

I thought Povetkin looked like a hungry, tough dude once AGAIN. He took some nice shots from Chambers in the beginning of the fight ( stinging str8 shots as right counters, left hook out of the str8 right, snappy n accurate left leads) , but he made the adjustments, ducking or blocking the counter rights, and he just kept punching in well-studied and effective combinations - explore that high arm guard of Chambers, go to the body and follow up to the head ( consider that a lot of Sasha's follow ups upstairs weren't blocked but hit on the side of Chamber's head, on and behind the ear). Chambers held his ground and fought a hell of a courageous fight but he could never win stayin right in front of this guy... I can't ask for anything more from Povetkin in a major elimination bout - I knew he would take a lot of shots as Eddie would let his hands fly and that would keep Eddie in the fight, simply that Alexander would throw more and harder shots. Heavyweights who throw 80 punches a round will always draw my interest. If Povetkin tightens up his defense a little bit, he could be a force to deal with. Chambers is just too complacent. I really felt like the analysis by the HBO crew, particularly Lennox Lewis and Max Kellerman, was dead on yesterday's night. Chambers isn't a strong enough puncher to have a duck and peck style like he has. He should lose the spare tire and drop down to Cruiser ( like Byrd was supposed to do when he was driven into this IBF tourney/ Povetkin's promo instead). Eddie's just not powerful enough to do any damage at HWT, I'm sorry. For a guy nicknamed "Fast", he barely moved his feet all night. His hands might be fast, but who cares when he's only going to throw 20 punches a round.
Like I said before, when you are going to go against a russian battleship like Sasha Povetkin, you need something like an ukrainian air carrier war vessel Wlad Klitschko, not a coast guard towboat... To all the russian friends - Поздравляю вас!

Fun fight to watch though. I'll take more like that from the HWT division any night.

At least you've seen chambers now:D

Dont fool yopurself though, Povetkin better get to work. Wlad's right hand is longer and more powerful. Can he take those?

I DOUBT IT!!! EVEN if he isnt KO'd out right? They'll be too much blood and swelling. I could maybe see a cuts stoppage in Wlad's favor:good

I would see more of Chambers fights if he is carefully matched on the near future.

Klitschko throws that right hand very fast and on very light feet of his, and when it lands on the points, the power is transferred through the chin, spinal cord, legs and all the connection paths with short-circuit damaging results for any anatomy known to humans. But quid pro quo, at six feet six, he can't throw that shot as often as Chambers did and not without setting it up with a long jab...

Povetkin would have to be able to swallow those shots like Peter did but as for the moment being, he definitely needs to work on head/body movement to slip that jab and the right hand. If those shots land on top of the head, he runs into less risks of falling apart or getting cut. Without wanting to support Povetkin's case too much, I don't think that five or six more fights would prepare him much better. :good

You knew nothing then, know NOTHING NOW, and played yourself throughout the thread. The truth hurts, but you're a ****ing CLOWN:yep

As for what HAPPENED in the fight?

My head isnt hanging low:lol: nor should it BE. :nono Chambers fought tough the first half and blew it the second. But showed all the ability, heart, and CLASS i said he had. But bitches like you just talk **** and act cute and arent aware of what is happening inside the ropes.

See many of the analysts who matter and picked Povetkin? Were wrong about chambers and MOST of those same analysts said that they were impressed by Chambers ability more than before. There was no KO and Chambers made them sweat for a minute or two:D

Its a punk ass like yourself, who still dont get it, still wants to talk it, and never really walked it:yep You played yourself already.

American Idol IS OVER for you, you suck, shut the **** up:good

Chambers did put up a helluva fight CMoney. Don't let ******s talk you down. You were spot-on; saying that Chambers would be a very tough fight and indeed he was. I was sweating after the third round cause I seem to remember giving the first 3 to Chambers. Great fight

Appreciate the encouragement, though I learned that advice long ago:yep

I'm not at ALL worried. As i said a while back? The truth shines through! SEE-THRU YAHOO over there can keep playing circle jerk:good

Tp people who understand what they see in there? I was right because saw him from when he was a kid. Even warned that the 1 legit criticism was his volume. He came to fight, had the ability/tools, but hit a wall when Povetkin adjusted. The strength and rate of AP's attack forced him into a defensive shell.

Still he need's what SRL had. That ability TO FLURRY more often.
Had Eddie used his D(which is a skill) and flurried more? Coulda been different. Hey, everyone takes losses if ya keep at it:yep This one was hard, but its a quality opponent. His only real weakness was exposed. The good news is he has the ABILITY. Now he must find the way solve the problem. I like Mcgirt being around. What about a conditioning coach? It may be more expense, but the PRICE is being a Champion.

They need refine, adjust, and add to the preparation team/coaches. Start working his activity while shadow boxing/pad work in the ring, keep punch stats, and maybe try punchouts to punctuate the end of rounds:think He likes to swim which is great aerobically, the should get him doing some under water running ,or more old-fashioned running in the mix. The combination of NUTRITION and strength/agility training would help a lot. He must turn it up on guys WHEN HE HAS THEM. He had povetkin after 5:hey

You wont change his approach. He'll always work the guard and many timnes that's a good thing. Most guys arent looking like "Night of the Living Dead" between rounds and still throwing 75-80 shots a round.
In my mind Klitschko and Povetkin are the top 2 HW's right now.
Chambers is my #3 if he really changes things to a different level.
And who knows maybe Povetkin sees him again SOMEDAY:good
