Did you pick age 38 just because he lost to Wladimir at 37? Is that the magic age where a fighter becomes useless? Anyways he was a good fighter who's 3 best wins are probably Chagaev, Whyte and Takam. He's technically a lot better than Wilder and he's certainly capable of beating him and AJ but I would favor them both over him. He wasn't some destroyer or anything.
Takam is not a top 3 win for him. Chagaev, Byrd, Whyte, Huck, Chambers all had better careers than takam. And no? That makes no sense. Firstly, he wasn't 37 vs Wladimir, secondly, losses don't affect your win column. Seriously. Wilder's best win over a fighter below 38 is Stiverne. Comparing him to Povetkin is grimy and reeks of being easily influenced by Instagram fanpages.
Wlad was 37 when Povetkin lost to him. Byrd was 37 and washed up when Povetkin beat him. I guess that doesn't matter though since 38 is the magic age when you are unable to box.
Povetkin is better technically and hits harder than Ruiz, But it's a good fight because Ruiz is tough and fast. Povetkin UD
The older you get, the worse your boxing ability, as a general rule. Wladimir admittedly did hold better than most, but if your raise it to 39 he went 1-2 and barely beat Jennings in the fight he did win. He was done for at 39. 38 is a more than fair drawline.
Povetkin is vastly superior. The only thing Ruiz has here is the ability to take damage. All that means is that Ruiz is going to get battered. Whether Povetkin stops him is hard to say. But a TKO is definitely possibly, a proper KO too. If Povetkin had been Ruiz's age and filled in for the Joshua fight, he would have won that by KO. That should be pretty clear to people. It shows that Povetkin was a little unlucky not to get the true championship belt. He was too old by the time he had his chance with Joshua, who could not grapple like Wlad. Ruiz landed a lucky shot on Joshua and was then completely outboxed. He went on to get dropped by a shot Arreola and have another tough fight with a post 40 Ortiz with no punch resistance left. He's not fast, either. He's a BIG FAT MAN. He's slow of foot but has faster punches compared to SHWs due to his stumpy SMW arms. Povetkin is way faster of foot and would completely out class him movement wise.
I heard that they lost track of Joe Joyce and they found him eventually a month later walking to the shops for milk. He had plants and grasses growing on his back and the beginnings of a thriving ecosystem. People had just thought he was a moss-covered rock at first.
Povetkin all the way. He was a serious fighter with a complete arsenal of punches and a great gas tank. His left hook is one of the ATG heavyweight left hooks. He was just unfortunate to be in the same era as the Klitschkos. If they hadn't been around he'd have been the man at HW for that era.
Wilder blatantly ducked him. Before you mention peds, Wilder went on to rematch A shot Stiverne that had tested positive.
