Joshua lacks the power to hurt Povetkin when a much inferior boxer to Povetkin in Carlos Takam walked through everything Joshua dished out. Povetkin's leftover opponent in Carlos Takam had a chin that was too tough for the bodybuilder Joshua to crack. What makes you think Joshua is going to even come close to stopping the much tougher Povetkin, never mind knocking him out? Or you mean getting 'typical British stoppages'? Joshua lacks punching power and has relatively weak punches. His concussive power is not greater than Povetkin's and certainly not greater than Wladimir Klitshcko's
Getting stopped > 'almost' getting stopped. Povetkin in actual fact has never been stopped in his amateur or pro career spanning over 300 bouts. Whilst Joshua has actually been stopped by little Mihai Nistor with pillow gloves and head gear on.
And Povetkin will eat those weak uppercuts like they were nothing. Just like how Povetkin's leftover in Carlos Takam was at times, walking through those overrated 'uppercuts' of Joshua which really are much weaker than what many seem to think. And Povetkin's punch resistance / chin / toughness > Carlos Takam's. Povetkin carries greater clean knockout punching potential than the overrated Anthony Joshua. Povetkin's chin isn't as bad as Wladimir Klitschko's who despite taking Joshua's most powerful uppercut, was still standing and Joshua still failed to keep Wladimir Klitschko down for the 10 count. That = Joshua's uppercut and punching power = myth = overrated!
Maybe not prime Wladimir Klitschko but: Evgeny Romanov > Deontay Wilder and Povetkin > Evgeny Romanov. Mihai Nistor > Anthony Joshua and Povetkin > Mihai Nistor. No boxer in history would be favorite to beat Wladimir Klitschko from 2006 - 2013. That doesn't mean Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder are anywhere near as good as Wladimir Klitschko during that period of his dominance over the heavyweight division. If Evgeny Romanov can KO Deontay Wilder and if Mihai Nistor can KO Anthony Joshua. Then Povetkin can also KO both Wilder and Joshua.
Exactly! And even at that age, Povetkin will still stand a good enough of a chance of getting the job done because of how overrated Anthony Joshua and the current heavwyeight division is at the moment. On an even playing field, Povetkin is the best heavyweight in the world right now, even at age 39.
presumably if wlad had got koed again in rematch with old shot2shyt corrie in 2006 and brews before he retired with one eye, then you'd have to shift the boundaries of those dates forward a few years. but on the bright side u can extend 2013 to 2016 so as to disclude prospect fury, clearly also a better man than any HW in human history ARFARF Sherlock.
Anthony Joshua is certainly not the more powerful puncher compared to Povetkin. Otherwise, he wouldn't have failed to cleanly KO Povetkin's leftover opponent in Carlos Takam who Povetkin knocked out cleanly during his prime whilst Joshua didn't even come close to cleanly knocking out a washed up Carlos Takam that was already knocked out in his prime by Povetkin. Povetkin has never been stopped in over 300 amateur + professional bouts and only Wldimir Klitschko managed to drop him once legitimately. And Wladimir Klitschko EVIDENTLY has the much GREATER punching power compared to Joshua. That should really tell you all you need to know about how good Povetkin's chin and punch resistance is. On the other hand, it's Joshua's chin that is more suspect and in question because he's the one that has been stopped multiple times by inferior opponents to Povetkin like by a 6 foot Mihai Nistor who is also smaller in size compared to Povetkin. Povetkin may not punch harder than Wladimir Klitschko. But he has enough power to hurt Joshua enough to stop him and unlike Wladimir Klitschko, he isn't going to left Joshua off the hook once he has him hurt like when Wlad did.
hey gypsy rose fernando, how do you know joshua wasnt able to ko him when the fight was stopped in the 10th? u got a crystal ball telling us what would have happened?
Those wins were flukes. Hence Corrie Sanders, nor Brewster achieved any where near as much as Wladimir Klitschko did in their careers. One or two random fluke victories don't have precedence over someone's entire career accomplishment and Wladimir Klitshcko's entire career accomplishments > Corrie Sander's and brewster's entire career accomplishments combined. Wladimir Klitschko during his prime from 2006 - 2013, didn't even lose a single round never mind an actual boxing bout. This is just the truth! That Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and nearly Bryant Jennings beat Wladimir Klitschko at an age (around 40) when most other past heavyweight boxers were either retired or losing to much inferior boxers than the boxers that Wladimir Klitschko lost to means nothing in the whole scope of things. Let us know when Fury dominates a division, cleans the division up and can stay on top for around a decade with over 60 wins. Until then: Wladimir Klitschko at his best > any version of Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua or anybody else for that matter!
He does, RELATIVE TO ALEXANDER POVETKIN's punching power and chin / punch resistance. Joshua's punch power was too weak to cleanly KO Povetkin's previous knockout victim in Takam. Povetkin's punching power and punch resistance / chin > Carlos Takam's punch power and punch resistance.
how u know, the fight was stopped by the ref. put your crystal ball to better use, instead of basiing your judgement on ONE fight. wlad couldnt ko the haye who got wiped out by 40 year old CW, same error.
Maybe because Joshua landed everything but the kitchen sink and Takam was still standing perhaps? Or perhaps the referee stopped the fight because of how pathetically weak Joshua's punching power is on a washed up near 40 year old midget who was already previously not just stopped, but knocked out clean by another small midget heavyweight in Povetkin and the referee wanted to maintain Joshua's fake and misleading 100% 'KO' / 'knockout' record? Because Joshua lacks the power to get actual clean knockouts himself and instead requires premature stoppages?
or MAYBE you dont know what would have happened because you dont have a crystal ball, gypsy rose luis.
Pov seemed to take the foot off the gas vs Hammer and Rudenko. Two tough guys but no tougher than Takam Duhaupas or Perez who Pov all knocked out clean. It could be a life and death fight for Joshua, but only if Povetkin is at the peak condition of those previous wins.
