According to various sources, including Povetkin's promoter Andrei Ryabinsky, the fight between Alexander Povetkin and Carlos Takam is signed for October 24th in Moscow, Russia.

Now it's clear that Povetkin's plan is taking the WBC path, winning the title and getting his rematch against Klitschko. He is currently rated #3 by the WBC, while Takam is rated #4 by the same organization. The winner of this match is obviously next in line for the WBC title shot after Wilder and Jennings.

Regarding the fight itself, it's a very good match-up between the two legit contenders. Povetkin is clearly #2 behind Pulev (can be even argued for #1), while Takam is a legit top 10. The fight is listed as "5 stars" on Boxrec as well.

Takam is known for having a good chin and being very aggressive, we'll see if it will work against an elite fighter like Povetkin. A very good fight is to be expected.

    Feel free to comment.

I really like the fight. I think as Povetkin continues to move past the Teddy Atlas fiasco that nearly ruined his career, he'll show he's a cut above the other contenders. I'd love to see him take out another one or two of the WBC top contenders to build that case.

Povetkin UD 12, 9-3, 8-4 kind of fight.

It is going to be a WAR.

Povetkin has skills but this will end up in BRAWL.

    Think about it.

    Good, good fight.:good

This is the way it should be done. In a perfect world, these 2 guys would occupy the #1 and 2 spots in the WBC rankings, with the winner earning mandatory status.

Great match, I do hate how the WBC has all these separate eliminator and create a line of mandatorys as opposed to say Wilder has to fight Jennings

I'd like to see the winner of this fight take on the winner of Stiverne-Wilder.

Definitely a good fight! In this case, my wide-ish scorecard isn't an estimate of a blowout- I'm expecting a thoroughly entertaining, competitive overall fight :good

A fight that is worthy of an eliminator status, unlike the sad circus between Wilder and Scott.

gotta love povetkin stepping up the competition lately. hopefully more contenders start taking some risks. sadly, i think it is just a scramble to get a title shot, before wlad grabs the last belt too.

Povetkin's combination to end his last fight is how HW's are supposed to finish. It was badass.

    In case you missed it
