He kept his good shape from the Charr fight entering in the training camp for Takam. His promoter is saying that Sasha is in a "nuclear" shape right now, the best of his career. We'll see.

That's Russian TV commercial. They have been (rightfully) hyping the fight up for quite some time now.

I'm looking forward to it too.

It will be televised on Russia 1 (and probably another Russian network).

    A tough one to analyze.

Do you analyze Povetkin vs. Chagaev & Huck, and pit those versions of him against the Perez & Thompson versions of Takam?

There was very little takeaway from Sasha's last four bouts, in terms of analyzing them. He lost to Klitschko because he got swallowed up in a much bigger man's octopus tentacles and not permitted to fight effectively while Klitschko spoiled his way to an ugly W with the jab-and-grab. He smashed through Charr, Wawrzyk and Rahman because, for differing reasons, none of them belonged in the ring with him. Sure, he looked beastly in his last outing but Charr was overweight (the most since his atrocious performance last February in which Yakup Saglam looked well on his way to scoring an upset before unluckily retiring with an injury) and fairly useless that night. He literally did nothing aside from land a few jabs. He got shutout and KTFO. Wawrzyk is a complete joke, as was Rahman being sanctioned for a world title bout at that point in time.

The problem there, if you skip back over those four bouts and use Chagaev & Huck as your templates for Povetkin's form - is that you're going back three years. Povetkin is an unknown quantity, in other words. He could be a great deal better or a great deal worse than in 2011/2012.

Takam is the constant, with his two breakout nights coming this very year.

    Agreed

Povetkin also was stunned by chag in the mid rounds and several times by huck

His eyes cut and bruised vs Wlad and Chambers

He also has a soft midsection and Takam hits the body

Povetkin can be cut and rocked and carries baby fat like Juan Diaz. Good fighter but not without. Question marks

Takam has me more than impressed but who knows
