Good analysis. I won't be surprised to see Takam win. He looks beastly in that work-out video. Perhaps Takam will score some knockdowns late in the fight if it breaks his way.

However, Povetkin has the home-field advantage. Povetkin also has phenomenal chin and heart in addition to a wide skill advantage over Takam. A fully fit and mentally ready Povetkin should be able to edge this but we will see won't we.

Povetkin has a soft midsection, how many times has he been knocked down or knocked out by blows to the midsection?

Takam seems like he could be an unexpected spoiler.

He has never been knocked down as either amateur or pro other than the Klitschko fight (and only 1 KD in that fight was somewhat legit). He's one of those guys that just won't fold.

I favor Povetkin in a 116-112 or 117-111 type of UD...

Good fight. Povetkin continuing to impress of late. He has faced quality fighters through his career, even if not quite as actively as we might have hoped for. Wins over Chambers, Chagaev, and Byrd were nice and convincing while he also looked really good against Charr (even though I think less of Charr than 90% of you guys).

    This ones going the distance.

I got Potvetkin in a close, perhaps controversial UD.

Scores will probably be 118/110 117/111 type scores but the fight with be much closer to 115/113 or 114/114 or even 113/115 Takams way in our eyes.

He's not gonna win the rds that he dominates but gets rocked a few times, and he wont win the close rds with back and forth action.:think

Both guys looking good at the weigh in.

Alexander Povetkin - 104kg (2kg heavier than in the Charr fight, still pretty good shape).

Carlos Takam - 114kg (2kg lighter than in the Thompson fight, good shape for Takam as well).

Povetkin once again comes under 105 kg which is very good for him. He probably didn't want to be too light for the heaver Takam, thus reducing the possibility of perhaps being bullied around. Takam is 10kg heavier and will obviously be at disadvantage in speed, but he still came lighter than in the previous fight and is looking very good. Both guys seem completely ready for the showdown.

Didn't Sasha switch trainers after the Klitschko fight? He seems to be taking it more seriously now and maintaining a great shape.
