Manuel Charr vs. Michael Grant, 10 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Round 1

Charr is advancing behind the jab and chopping with the right. Grant backs up clumsily, staying tall.

10-9 Charr

 

Round 2

Charr is pushing Grant into the corners, holding up the high guard and leaning forward so that his elbows dig into Grant's ribs. Grant is leaning back and loading up light uppercuts, then bending over with his head down past his waist as he backs away. Jabs and chopping rights by Charr, setting the workmanlike pace but not scoring much. Still more than Grant.

This is embarrassing.

 

Round 3

Charr is cruising into Grant with the high guard up, throwing nothing. Jabs by Grant on the backfoot. Charr gets in close and tries a few underhanded body combos. Grant backs out of the way and scores a jab between the gloves. Uppercut by Grant. Charr grabs onto Grant and shoves him out of the ring - not a knockdown.

29-28 Charr

 

Round 4

Charr is just wading into punches now, jabs piercing his third eye and uppercuts slamming in above his belt line on his paunch. Charr keeps his gloves pinned together in front of his nose but is unable to keep the Grant left jab from tapping a rhythm on his forehead, seemingly unable to lift his arms the requisite extra two inches. Underhanded swatting combos at the body by Charr as he plods in without a jab, eating several of Grant's on the way in. Grant keeps stumbling away, unbalanced but still managing to stay off the ropes and keep Charr in pursuit and unable to get off anything in multiples consistently.

Grant looks ready to collapse but is still landing cleaner. :-(
