I actually feel the opposite of the thread title, as I have all along - but, I will say the gap has narrowed. Wilder is less overrated now than I thought he was early in his tenure in the championship picture (we'll mark twain from the WBC eliminator where his buddy Malik Scott graciously took a Kevin Nash & Hogan finger-poke dive for him). There is more of a sense now (a hint of a whiff of the essence of a sense, but it's there ) that he might be kinda legit and not this protected fraud. He's no longer struggling for cringe-inducingly long stretches or having scary whoops-y-daisy moments left and right with perceived cherry picks (like he did consecutively with Molina, Duhaupas, and Szpilka); he's taking out the trash, all things considered, although he still isn't facing anyone amazing. Washington was the only threat, and Wilder didn't have it all his way but he took his man out. Arreola and the rematch version of Stiverne are non-factors on his resume - to me he may as well have faced a debutant in a 4-round tuneup like Pong used to do, for all the credit I'm willing to give these as HW title defenses - but he did what he was supposed to do against them. He does seem to be learning and improving which I respect.

Povetkin meanwhile keeps giving the haters more fuel and ammunition over the years with his diva antics at the negotiating table, whining about every perceived slight, fancying himself an A-side in every situation when he doesn't have the achievements on paper to back that up, and he really just never can seem to push himself over the top the way his fans have always been waiting for him to do (especially with the void created in the post-K2 era, where he was supposed to be the cream that rose far above the rest)

Povetkin isn't even a proper heavyweight to begin with. Arguably a blown up light heavyweight and would arguably lose to Oleksandr Gvozdyk. The fact that you have to make such a thread, about a 6 foot 0 midget, who is not even a PROPER heavyweight to begin with by modern standard, actually makes you overrate Povetkin. Otherwise, you wouldn't be making such a thread.

Povetkin has done well, relative to his size. And has done better than pretty much any other guy his own size for the last decade or so in the heavyweight division. That's still a great accomplishment and something to be proud. No shame being inferior to giants like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, especially also when combined with such an old age. Since he really shouldn't even belong in the ring against them at this point in his career.

This thread is two years old. If you're that desperate for an argument hide your mum's Xanax.
