A Russian promotional company World of Boxing had recently won the bidding war for the Alexander Povetkin (30-1-0) vs. Deontay Wilder (36-0-0) bout, which will now be taking place somewhere in Russia, with the Moscow Olympic Stadium probably being the likely venue.
Wilder will be guaranteed $4.5 million, and Povetkin a much slimmer number of $1.9 million.

After winning the rights to the fight, Andrey Ryabinsky had stated that on March 8, he would announce which country would host the heavyweight championship bout. When the time arrived, he confirmed that the bout would indeed take place in Russia, to make his fighter Alexander Povetkin more comfortable:
“I had a few options: to make a ton of money, or to create a comfortable environment for Alexander. The choice was easy, I picked the second option. The fight will be in Russia. We will be very happy to extend a warm welcome to Deontay Wilder and his team. I don’t know who will come out victorious, Alex or Deontay Wilder, but I want to be sure, that I did everything that I could. Everything else depends on Alex,” said Ryabinsky.
According to many boxing fans and pugilists, this may very well be Wilder’s first real challenge. Wilder has had a very impressive career thus far, with an explosive personality and an astounding 97% KO rate. His competition though, lacked A-class challengers. This time around, he will have an entirely different opponent in front of him in Alexander Povetkin.
While Povetkin is six years older than Wilder, his performances have showed that he is in good shape, can take a punch, and give one back for an entirety of the bout. This might turn out to be one of the more exciting heavyweight fights we have seen in a while.
There is no date set yet, but many are assuming that it will happen sometime towards the end of this Summer. from ESB news

Damn, I'm rooting for Sasha but if Wilder wins this fight, I'd praise and boost him being a top 10 P4P fighter.:good

Povetkin is going to crush this moron and put an end to that stupid phrase "Bomb Squad".

    Povetkin/Haye
    Povetkin/Ortiz

I want to see these fights.

Povetkin is a great fighter, too. Unlike that American fraud (why do yanks put so many hype-jobs out???) who has been running scared of this fight for too long now.

Povetkin KO within 5-7 rounds. The skill levels are miles apart.

Wilder injury announcement is imminent. He's probably frantically trying to set up a unification fight with Browne.

Doesn't matter where it takes place as long as it happens.

    "End of the summer?"

Why does the Povetkin camp keep wanting to push this freaking fight back so long?

Hasn't Povetkin been training since January and posting videos of it? Does he seriously need EIGHT MONTHS to prepare for this fight?

Just f*cking fight already. Wilder wanted him in January. Wilder wanted him in April. Now Povetkin's team is saying LATE SUMMER????

    Good God.

Never saw so much prep time required to meet a titleholder who is supposedly made of glass.

:thinkBe hard to argue, though Potvetkin is not a better win than was Klitschko.

Still, the winner definitely breaks the top 10 p4p. :think

Clemente Russo 5'11 beat 6'7 wilder in the Olympics. Povetkin 6'2 will win.

Wilder isn't the one pushing it back. I don't know why this is so hard for some of you to get.

Now that Povetkin has his team promoting, and his location ... he needs until END OF THE SUMMER.

He needed a tuneup against Wach last fall instead of fighting Wilder. He started training in January. Now he won't be ready to fight until LATE SUMMER.

This guy NEVER expected he'd have to fight Deontay Wilder. Just delay, delay, delay ...

Yeah, when George Bush was the president.

Wilder first took up boxing two years before he fought in the Olympics.

He's not the same guy now ... 10 years in and at his physical prime.

    Nobody PUT Wilder out there.

He got a gift eliminator vs unranked Scott, and beat a guy who'd been boozing, smoking:rasta:rasta, and womenizing during his off-time after Arreola(said to have ballooned up to 290, and boiled off some 60lbs in 14 wks.)

BUT......he fought smart vs BWare, did what he had to do, and EARNED his title.

Yeah, he's fought 3 B level contenders since his title victory, but Potvetkin could have imposed this fight as early as January, but didnt.

I would VENTURE to say that Team Povetkin wanted to wait until summer, soas the Moscow venue could be secured for best possible monetary gains, but that just makes too much sense.

And who are all these HYPEJOBS Americans are hyping???

Martin.....was whooping and woulda KOd Giftkov.
Brazeale....proven he's B level at worst by hanging and stopping Monsour.
Washington? Willing to make big fights with Arias, Monsour. Called out Tarver.

I mean, these guys are doing what's asked of em, and what SHOULD be being done by all fighters globally.:huh
