Hey guys Just been re-watching a couple of old Povetkin fights, and it got me to thinking of how potentially explosive a clash with Chisora would be. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have been particularly interested in this, but with Chisora's current run of good form, and Povetkin having tasted defeat for the first time then this could be an interesting euro clash. Obviously Povetkin is the better boxer, but how would he dare against a motivated Chisora's relentless pressure? Both men are of a similar size. I've got Povetkin on points or maybe a late stoppage.
Chisora would be able to trouble Povetkin early on thanks to Povetkin's sub-par defense. But after round 6-7 the relentless combinations Povektin would land take their toll on Chisora and he probably gets stopped late. All this assuming Povetkin is able to reach conditioning and a mental state that is a good tad better than what he showed against Huck (which was a terrible performance).
Chisora would trouble Povetkin a bit, but that's about it. I expect a clear points victory for Pov. I do slightly favor current Chisora in a Fury rematch though.
Some strange views in this thread. Are we talking about the same Povetkin that gasses after 6 rounds and got beaten up by Marco Huck Chisora would break him down and stop him. No way Povetkin handles Chisora for 12 rounds, not a chance
Good fight. Povetkins has Derecks weaknesses early on on lock down, while Dereck can expose some of Povetkins weaknesses late!
Explosive is the word, yes. Of course, that requires both of them being at their fired-up best. If we get, say, the Povetkin that fought Marco Huck and the Chisora that fought Tyson Fury... :dead
i'd say this is probably a 50/50 fight. maybe a slight edge to Chisora. but it would be full of action, i know that. the only problem i have with Del Boy is his punch resistance. i wasn't so sure when he got rocked by Gerber that the chin was cracked, but after getting rocked again last time out, i do think he can't take a punch as well as he could before Haye.
