povetkin is hittable and he got dropped against punchers in the past.Shavers puts him into the hospital
It was never game over if Shavers hit you, unless you had a chin like wet cardboard. Povetkin might get dropped, but chances are he's one of those guys that goes on to stop Shavers soon after, or outbox him to a points decision. He's shown the ability to come back from being hurt numerous times thoughout his career, and has shown extreme resiliency to big shots, both of which don't bode well for Shavers's chances. The poll results have it right in this one.
Shavers was very crude. Povetkin is one of the best HW technicians ever. Pov would easily dismantle Shavers who only has a punchers chance.
He got dropped in the Wlad and Joshua fights because both men are not only huge punchers but extremely good at landing their shots, and in both cases there were mitigating circumstances (fouling in Wlad's case and Povetkin being past his best in Joshua's). Shavers isn't a bigger puncher than either man (come at me) and doesn't possess anywhere near the skill or physical dimensions to trouble Povetkin. He gets stopped early, or lands a big right, drops Povetkin, then gets beaten up or outboxed after Povetkin gets off the deck. Those are the only scenarios that would go down in that fight.
Whyte's left that he landed on Parker had a similar impact and effect to the right Shavers landed on Holmes. Takes a bit of de-misting of the spectacles to acknowledge that though.
Mate, if you had to bet on this fight, I mean actually put hard cash down on the outcome, you're picking Povetkin. Don't fool yourself.
Your Joking i would bet my house on Shavers. You will look silly when Whyte knocks him out in the rematch
No I won't. Povetkin is in his forties, way past his best and has been battling covid for most of the previous year. It's expected for Whyte to win. Bet your house on the outcome. You'll be sleeping in a box.
You know what keeps me up at night? I keep wondering if Carlos Takam could beat Ron Stander. 37-21-3 Ron Stander's record seems flimsy to me, except for one thing: he knocked the mighty Shavers TF out. Ron Stander must be something special, surely? I wonder when they will induct him into a Hall of Fame. It must be soon surely? This travesty of justice has gone on long enough.
Actually, maybe you should have read this: "Povetkin is as close to a complete offensive fighter as I've seen, and both his losses are questionable. Klitschko outrageously exploited his size and clinch against him" I feel Klitschko bent the rules as far as they could go when he went to sleep on Povetkin's back for half the match to tire him out. Even though he might have beat him fair and square he chose to play it ultra safe and make sure Sasha was super tired before he opened up the taps. Not one of Wlad's most memorable victories.
This is what his team have put out. We don't know if that's true, or not. It's highly likely that this is completely false. I can't believe you're not in the slightest bit sceptical about that, or maybe you're just using it to bolster your argument.
It should have been a DQ and really turned me off Wlad having previously been a fan of his and a critic of Povetkin. I know someone has a poor argument when they start bringing up that fight in criticism of Povetkin. Might as well bring up Inoki vs Ali for all the relevance it has on their actual boxing career.
The argument that I think Whyte beats a forty year old war torn Povetkin in the rematch? Yeah alright. Covid or not Povetkin is likely to be a shell of his former self once (if?) that fight rolls around.
